Sun 27 Sep – América Brasil: O DVD

I arrived at Citibank Hall 1 hour prior to the concert to see Seu Jorge's show celebrating the release of his DVD "América Brasil". Luckily enough, the venue was still rather empty, so I managed to get the best place in the first row.

The show was much better than the first time that I'd seen him live, which was on an outdoor festival. He wasn't even that stoned this time and the band -- 17 people! -- showed great musicianship and performance playing the best songs from his latest album, "América Brasil", such as América Do Norte, Trabalhador, Só No Chat, Samba Rock, Seu Olhar and Burguesinha, in addition to his old hits, such as São Gonça, Tive Razão and Carolina. Seu Jorge and his band showed that they are one of the finest contemporary Brazilian artists at the moment, performing top-notch samba rock.

Seu Jorge also had a few special guests that night. They played a blues version of Vacilão from Zeca Pagodinho on a duo with Badi Assad on guitar and vocals and O Moleque from Conexão BAixada with tubarão on vocals.

All in all it was a very entertaining night, definitely a concert to be remembered. :)
