I have to say a negative about each of my top 15 artists, so here it goes:
1.
Dinosaur Jr.
I honestly don't know if I can say anything negative about these guys, but they don't come to Ireland often enough, if that counts as one.
2.
Muse
Tend to go overdramatic in their music when sometimes it isn't necessary.
3.
Feeder
Possibly that they're new stuff's so very very different to
Echo Park and before that again. They've changed a lot since Jon Lee took his own life a few years ago, and I'm not sure if it's for better or worse.
4.
Nickelback
They have a few songs that are easily skippable on Random. I'm a big fan but I can accept the whole "It's popular to bash them" but just so long as it's in some sort of constructive manner and you got proper stuff to back it up with.
5.
Metallica
I'm not sure how they got so many plays to be honest, I only like a handful of their entire catalog. Were great in the early days but seem to have tapered off a lot these last few years.
6.
The Black Mages
Some of their reworkings of Nobou Uematsu's original compositions are just awesome. Others (like
The Man With the Machine Gun and
Otherworld) should have just stuck with the original and not been altered.
7.
Kasabian
Just can't seem to have got the magic of the first album back.
Empirewas a letdown, and in a way
The West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum was too but it's growing on me a bit.
8.
Bloc Party
Seem to be trying different sounds to see what goes best, but none will be as great as the original approach to
Silent Alarm.
9.
Linkin Park
Anything after
Meteora - AVOID AT ALL COSTS. It's not worth wasting time over.
10.
Manic Street Preachers
Last two albums have been sub-par. Liked their original work a lot more than the recent stuff
11.
Slayer
Don't exactly make it easy for new listeners to get into them by drowning them in nothing but noise.
12.
System of a Down
Went on an indefinite hiatus. Shame because I liked them, even
Hypnotize.
13.
Goldie Lookin' Chain
I've well out-grown them at this stage. Very old-school chav rap. And chavs seriously irk me now.
14.
Sebadoh
It might be
Lou Barlow but it's just not the same as Dinosaur Jr. It just doesn't seem right hearing them basslines without
J Mascis's guitar over the top of it.
15.
Tenacious D
Haven't released any new stuff in a while. I hope they do, as I'm a big fan of Jack Black and I think it's high time we got a 3rd album.
IF YOU READ IT, YOU MUST TAKE IT TOO... :))
