YES, you are basically trying to replicate someone's entire music library
    YES, this is daunting
YES, you have life to worry about
YES, you are in a depressive episode and don't get jackshit done
NO, you don't have to rush yourself
BUT, goddammit, get your music on, woman!

  • That Fifty Questions Thing Everybody Loves

    Jun 7 2009, 19h28 por fru-shaw-nte

I've done this thing before like a year ago but guess what, I'm bored and this is what happens...

Doing my 6 month charts because... dunno, but there you go

    1) How did you get into 29?
    Butthole Surfers

Don't laugh, from the lyrics of the RHCP song Deep Kick
But the Butthole Surfers said, "It's better to regret something you did than something you didn't do"

    Yeah.

    2) What was the first song you ever heard by 22?
    Mission of Burma

Heard This is Not A Photograph on this site actually and was completely hooked.

    3) What is your favourite lyric by 33?
    The Flaming Lips

I know a girl who reminds me of Cher
    Shes always changing
    The color of her hair
    She don't use nothing
That ya buy at the store
She likes her hair to be real orange...
    She uses tangerines

    Fuck yes.

    4) How did you get into 49?
    Animal Collective

I'm just going to be blunt about it: Fucking my boyfriend to Merriwether Post Pavillion... it was glorious haha

    5) How many albums by 13 do you own?
    Red Hot Chili Peppers

    Oh dear god

    All 9 studios
    1 EP
    15 singles
    4 compillations
    5 Live albums

And that doesn't include all the random extras...

    6) What is your favourite song by 50?
    The Lounge Lizards

TocarYak... I've loved this since I was maybe six years old

    7) Is there a song by 39 that makes you LOL?
    Captain Beefheart

Oh shit, where to begin? The Captain is, well, a master of hilarity (yet also serious... that, my friends, is what we call genius)

To pick one, right this minute I'd have to say The Dust Blows Forward 'n the Dust Blows Back

    8) What is your favourite song by 15?
    Soundgarden

Hmm, I'd probably have to say TocarMailman... gotta love the images conjured by the lyrics haha

    9) What is your favourite album by 5?
    Sonic Youth

I'm going to be really predictable, but seriously Daydream Nation is probably one of the greatest releases of all time... It NEVER gets old, EVER!

    10) Is there a song by 6 that makes you sad?
    Meat Puppets

I wouldn't honestly say there was a song per se, but yeah, the ones they covered with Nirvana at the Unplugged show can bring the occasional tear to my eyes, thinking of my fallen hero (RIP Kurt Cobain).

    11) What is the worst song by 40?
    Queens of the Stone Age

Really don't like TocarMake It Wit Chu for some reason

    12) How did you get into 10?
    John Frusciante

Definitely stems from my RHCP obsession

    13) What is a good memory you have involving 30?
    Kyuss

Can't say I really have any particular memories... granted, anytime I'm listening to them I'm in a happy place

    14) What is your favourite song by 38?
    The Cure

Ohh that's tough... would have to be either Love Song or Lullaby

    15) How many albums by 19 do you own?
    Minutemen

Just the one, the classic Double Nickels on the Dime, but with 43 tracks I feel it's pretty adequate.

    16) Has any song by 25 made you cry?
    Led Zeppelin

Honestly can't say I've ever cried listening to them

    17) What was the first song you ever heard by 23?
    Beat Happening

I think most people who got into them after the fact probably were like me in that they first listened to the amazing TocarIndian Summer and proceeded from there

    18) What is your favourite lyric by 11?
    Mudhoney

Come on baby now come with me... if you don't cum (you don't cum) you'll die alone! – TocarTouch Me I'm Sick

    19) Who is your favourite member of 1?
    Nirvana

Kurt Cobain is my hero and idol and was the genius behind Nirvana... What else can I say?

    20) Have you ever seen 14 perform live?
    Pink Floyd

No, unfortunately and I never will... unless someone invents a time machine... RIP Rick Wright.

    21) Any good memories involving 27?
    Dead Kennedys

Haha I can remember singing California Über Alles in California

    22) What is your favourite album by 16?
    Pearl Jam

Again, I know I sound predictable, but come on, it's Ten for fucksakes, how could I not say that?

    23) What was the first song you heard by 47?
    The Germs

TocarWhat We Do Is Secret I'm pretty sure

    24) Is there a song by 18 that makes you laugh?
    Jefferson Airplane

It's not because the song itself is so funny, but I always have to LOL at TocarWhite Rabbit due to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas being one of my holy trinity of books...

'Let it roll!' he screamed. 'Just as high as the fucker can go! And when it comes to that fantastic note where the rabbit bites its own head off, I want you to throw that fuckin radio into the tub with me.'

hahahaha I love Hunter S. Thompson

    25) What is your favourite song by 21?
    Scratch Acid

Hmm not really sure... hold a gun to my head and I'll probably say Mary had a Little Drug Problem

    26) What was the song by 26 that you listened to most recently?
    The Jesus and Mary Chain

You Trip Me Up like two weeks ago, wow

    27) What is the best album by 3?
    Bob Dylan

I'll probably get some dissent here, but good god, Blood on the Tracks is probably my absolute favourite album of all time... I'm staring at my beautiful framed LP of it right now haha

    28) How did you get into 2?
    The Beatles

How does anybody get into The Beatles? They're the fucking Beatles, you have to get into them, it's like one of those indisputable laws of life, along with the fact that you will die, that the "emo" music of today (not the original stuff like Rites of Spring, which while I don't particularly like I respect) sucks balls, and that Joan Rivers and Michael Jackson are in fact the same person...

    29) What was the first song you heard by 32?
    Sublime

Probably heard others before, but the first time I can remember hearing a song and knowing it was them was TocarDate Rape

    30) Which is your most-played album by 8?
    Dinosaur Jr.

I have recently been obsessed with You're Living All Over Me, to which I simply cannot stop listening... That said, I just got Farm and well, it's AMAZING, so this could change

    31) How many times have you seen 17 live?
    The Jesus Lizard

None, but dude, that would be the shit

    32) When did you last listen to 44?
    Joy Division

Wow, I'm actually listening to TocarHeart and Soul as I type this... eerie shit from itunes shuffle

    33) How did you get into 12?
    Big Black

Read about them in Our Band Could Be Your Life, downloaded Songs About Fucking, listened to it I think 8 times in a row, and began singing Steve Albini's praises to anyone who would listen and lots of people who didn't give a shit

    34) What is 45's worst song?
    Circle Jerks

Can't say I really have an opinion on this, it's just really annoying that the goddamned scrobbler won't pick up on some of their tracks because they're so short... It's fucking LA punk, it's supposed to be short and fast, this is some of the best music around the scrobbler should fucking record it

    35) Why do you like 34?
    The Vaselines

Because they're awesome... thank you Kurt Cobain, for introducing me

    36) What was the first song you heard by 42?
    The Doors

Not entirely sure, but I can remember being captivated by Riders on the Storm while sitting in my mom's car as a little kid so I'll go with that

    37) How many times have you seen 48 live?
    Stone Temple Pilots

Actually saw them once last August with my then-best friend, what a show... STP was in top form and everybody there was so incredibly wasted and knew all the words... I love summer concerts

    38) How many albums by 36 do you have?
    Wipers

Two excellent albums, Is This Real? and Youth Of America

    39) Do you know anybody else who listens to 28?
    Pavement

Yeah, my boyfriend is actually the one who got me into them, and then a couple of kids in my music class last year and I would talk about them sometimes

    40) What is your favourite album by 7?
    Hüsker Dü

New Day Rising is the shit

    41) Does any song by 31 irritate you?
    The Replacements

    No, there really isn't

    42) Who is your favourite member of 41?
    Hole

Not sure, but I can definitively say that my LEAST favourite member is Courtney Love... murderer

    43) What is your favourite song of 24?
    Black Flag

Hmm, if I had to pick I'd probably say TocarTV Party

    44) What was the last thing you listened to by 46?
    Cream

    TocarTake It Back

    45) What is your favourite lyric by 35?
    Eddie Vedder

    The closing lines of TocarSociety

    Society, have mercy on me
I hope you're not angry if I disagree
    Society, crazy and deep
I hope you're not lonely without me

    46) How did you get into 9?
    Alice in Chains

I stole my brother's copy of MTV Unplugged... the rest is history so to speak

    47) What is your favourite album by 4?
    Pixies

Even as I sit here staring at my beloved [album artist=Pixies]Surfer Rosa
poster, I'm going to have to still say Doolittle

    48) What was the first song you heard by 37?
    The Clash

Hmm, I'd probably guess TocarLondon Calling because that gets so much airplay on the radio here still

    49) Favourite member of 43?
    Foo Fighters

Truth be told, the only member I can actually remember is Dave Grohl, and seeing as how he was in my beloved Nirvana, well, it's an easy choice.

    50) Which was the first album by 20 that you got?
    Minor Threat

The only one I have is Complete Discography, which somehow seems, well, complete

    And I'm spent...

  • Stuff I've been listening to a lot of lately

    Jul 10 2008, 12h54 por october71

Scratch Acid, The Greatest Gift: Like The Birthday Party? You'll like Scratch Acid

Have a Nice Life, Deathconsciousness: Oh my god, this is one of the best albums I've listened to in a while. It's a mix of post-punk and post-rock, and it's amazing. Check it out.

LCD Soundsystem, Sound Of Silver: My only gripe about this album is its complete lack of cohesiveness. It goes from post punk to glam to Human League-esque sad-but-synthpoppy. And surprisingly, it's all good, and it works!

That's all I can think of at the moment. Definitely check out Have a Nice Life, though. You won't be sorry.
