(* = highly recommended)
Top 10 albums of 2009
1. Monoliths & Dimensions - Sunn O))) 10/10* (stunning, just stunning and breathtaking, best album i will EVER hear in my life, every second was pretty much a orgasm)
2. Liebe ist für alle da -Rammstein 10/10* (4 years away
and this is what they return with, a strong return and a very enjoyable album)
3. When Mine Eyes Blacken - When Mine Eyes Blacken (Depressive Black Metal at its finest, Atmospheric and stunning through every second, a true masterpiece) 10/10*
4. Descending Further Into Nothingness - Exiled From Light 10/10* (refer to When Mine Eyes Blacken)
5. The June Frost - Mournful Congregation 9/10* (strongest release so far from the Adelaide Funeral Doomsters, a truely
depressive journey)
6. Those Whom The Gods Detest - Nile 10/10* (Nile put out there 2nd strongest release to date and by far the best death metal album of the past few years)
7. Iconoclast - Nazxul 9/10* (11 years in the making and i was not let down one single bit)
8. To Lay Like Old Ashes - Austere 8/10 (a suprise to see this here, at first off i was not that impressed, but further listens showed other wise)
9. What We All Come To Need - Pelican 9/10 (It's Pelican, Nuff Said)
10. In the Constellation of the Black Widow - Anaal Nathrakh 9/10* (Hell in music form)
10 albums that surprised me in 2009
1. Runaljod - gap var Ginnunga - Wardruna 10/10* (no words can describe it, you just have to listen and experience)
2. For Lies I Sire - My Dying Bride 7/10
3. Dekadens - Lifelover 7/10
4. Saurian Exorcisms - Karl Sanders 8/10*
5. All Shall Fall - Immortal 7/10
6. The Harvest Floor - Cattle Decapitation 7/10
7. Agorapocalypse - Agoraphobic Nosebleed 7/10
8. Black Cascade - Wolves in the Throne Room 8/10
9. Under the Jaguar Sun - Nadja 10/10* (Ambient Drone at its finest)
10. Wormwood - Marduk 8/10 (not as great as ROM 5:12 or Plague Angel but still better than what they have done before Mortuus joined)
Disappointments of 2009
1. Evisceration Plague - Cannibal Corpse 6/10 (not a solid release from Corpse, unlike Kill, the only tracks i enjoyed was the 1st track, the Title track and the last track)
2. Evangelion - Behemoth 7/10 (First few listens were fantastic, but then grew old, its a shame, i feel Behemoth are starting to turn into a Death Metal instead of a Black/Blackened Death Metal)
3. VI: Klagopsalmer - Shining 6/10 (After the complete Master peace that was V: Halmstad, Shining let themselves down with this one, oh well a new album is due for March so fingers crossed that is an improvement, or though, the last track on VI: was amazing in itself)
4. World Painted Blood - Slayer 6/10 (Too over-hyped by the media and every single Slayer fan as the answer to the "reign in blood" era Slayer, to me it had the potential, but did not show it on the final release)
5. Battle For The Sun - Placebo 5/10 (Very disappointing, i thought that after Meds, they could release another great album, seems not really :/)
6. Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us - Paradise Lost 5/10 (they seem to be losing the Doom Metal feel and it has shown on there latest album)
7. Night Is the New Day - Katatonia 6/10
8. Quantos Possunt Ad Satanitatem Trahunt - Gorgoroth 2/10 (VERY unimpressed, it shows that King and Gaahl should of kept the name, at least they wrote better music than Infernus)
9. Revelations of the Black Flame - 1349, 7/10 (Don't get me wrong, i enjoyed this album, even with the change in music style, but it just felt like something was missing, but i can't place my finger on it)
10. Time Waits For No Slave - Napalm Death 6/10 (more Grindcore compared to Smear Campaign, but i feel that right now, Napalm Death are losing some steam)
Concerts of 2009:
1. Sunn O)))/Rammstein (i know at the time of typing this, they have not happened, but they will both be as special as each other)
2. Nine Inch Nails - Soundwave show was one of the best shows i have seen, the Hordern show was ruined by the Power Cut
3 The Amenta - Australia's FINEST live band, each time i saw them they kicked so much ass and the show with the New Vocalist was fantastic too
4. Nazxul - The long awaited return after 5 years lived up to my hopes.
5. Our Last Enemy - hehe <3 these guys, so much fun is had whenever i see them
6. Morbid Angel - HOLY FUCKING FUCK FUCK, the BEST Death Metal band i will EVER see live.
7. Heaven Shall Burn - Despite being the Support act for Trivium *vomits* they made my whole evening, and i met them too :D
8. Satyricon - Blew me away, they had so much energy and put on a fantastic set
9. Deathstars - A rather enjoyable experience, was also my first overseas headline concert that i took photos for :)
10. Psycroptic / Ruins - Psycroptic, were a lot better this time around compared to November of last year and Ruins are Ruins really -

So I decided to reset my charts... again (after about 23,000 scrobbles). Here are my top artists and albums from early January up until late November. It seems I can't go more than 25k scrobbles without resetting... I would probably have over 100,000 scrobbles if I never reset my charts (combined with my scrobbles from my old account).

UNTIL THE LIGHT TAKES US explains black metal to world
Nov 23 2009, 19h58 por dark_legions
As a metal listener, I have been trying to get people to pay attention to why I listen to metal -- for most of my adult life. They focus on it being loud, "angry" and possibly antisocial, but never accept that it might have a reason for being that way and I might have a reason for liking it.
Until the Light Takes Us looks into why people make metal, and crosses political and genre lines to show how large corporations, fast food restaurants, religions and socially popular ideas are all the same type of thing, and metalheads have reason to reject it.
By looking into early 1990s black metal, this film explores the thoughts all of us have but are afraid to admit we do. Metal is only the lens, but the topic is a very human one: how do we both get along socially and stay true to ourselves?

Now what bands did I not see (yet)?
Here is the list and the reason why.
Immortal - Haven't been near me in ages.
Occult - Renamed to Legion of the Damned, so I've seen the bandmembers play, just not the band
Belphegor - This is gonna change in January!
Gorgoroth - Totally missed it when they were here the last time. I have seen Gaahl and Kvitrafn with Wardrunathough
Behemoth - Never really had the urge to see them
Cradle of Filth - I don't even know why this is in my top 50, I don't listen to them, they just drop by allot when playing a random playlist
Windir - Obviously not possible, seen Vreid though
Bathory - Obviously not possible
Heaven Shall Burn - Not that big of a metalcore fan, but 1 or 2 ablums are just awesome
Watain - I hope this will change soon!
Taake - Desperatly want to see them.
Stratovarius - Powermetal!
Hackneyed - Hd the change at summerbreeze, but a man has to eat right? Gonna see them in december though
Children of Bodom - Same story as Cradle of Filth
I - They only had 1 gig to date, and I didn't know them back then let alone travelled that far to see them.
Borknagar - Who? How did this end up un my top 50?
Iron Maiden - No thanks
Vesania - I'll probably go when they play here (which I doubt)
One Man Army and the Undead Quartet - Actually only know 1 album and bassed on that I would like to see them.
The Prodigy - Not really a band eh? The only electronic music in my list.
Apocalyptica - Not my style
Iced Earth - No thanks
Celtic Frost - Just read they broke up (again) last year
1349 - Would see them if they ever came here!
Elvenking - Powermetal :D Had the chance to see them at Summerbreeze. But I valued my sleep more
Falconer - 1 album is sublime, the rest is just standard Powermetal. So... NO
Dark Funeral - Gonna change this summer(breeze)
Carpathian Forest - Would go
Ragnarok - Would go
