One of the artists i grew up listening to. She was good in the beginning, going down in the middle and now, she's becoming better yet again, but she's a little inconsistent. Circus has a few good songs in it.

This Canadian rock band released Dark Horse in November 2008. It is quite a good album except for a few tracks which are too "loud" for me.

My favourite Spanish male singer. he released Sin Mirar Atrás this year, which i think was just average. Premonición, on the other hand, released in 2007 is an awesome album.

Anggun



A magnificent Indonesian born artist who now resides in France. First heard of her in her English singles, Snow on the Sahara and A Rose in the Wind, then later, their Indonesian versions, and after a few years heard her french singles Cesse la pluie and others. I became a fan of hers after listening to her french songs. they are upbeat, and more dance/electronic elements compared to her previous songs. her latest album, Elévation is a great one as well! Currently trying to find her older albums.

Laura Pausini



An Italian woman who sings Italian, spanish, portuguese, english and some french. Truely talented! She is one of the few pop singers who make really good and bored proof music. From time to time i can still dig out her songs from the 90's to listen but still have a fresh feel to them.

Daughtry



My favourite american idol contestant! Chris Daughtry formed the band Daughtry after "loosing" the idol contest. His rock songs sounds fresh to the ears after listening to one after another pop or country singer from the other Idol winners.

This singer from Madrid is my favourite Spanish female singer. She has currently released 3 albums, Edurne, Ilusión and Première. The first 2 albums are great, with many nice and catchy songs. Ilusión is a cover album, so i'm not such a fan of it. She will be releasing a new album next year. Can't wait for it!

David Guetta



This french DJ is definitely my favourite. His remixes made irritating songs sound much better and his collaborations with other vocalists has created masterpieces. Some other DJs tend to make somewhat boring or irritating beats, but every track by Guetta are original and refreshing.

Backstreet Boys



I've been their fan since the beginning, and still am now. They have made many catchy songs all along but also a few boring ones that can be found in each album. Their newest album This Is Us is average but Straight Through My Heart is super! I've not gone crazy over a song like this for a long time.

Σάκης Ρουβάς



Σάκης Ρουβάς has represented Greece twice in the Eurovision Song Contest, even though he did not come in first, his songs are still awesome. Ήρθες / This Is Our Night especially, contains many highly addictive songs.

In my opinion, the best new artist of the decade! She has topped charts all over the world and of course my chart as well. There's nothing else i can say... She's just awesome!

Kudai



Kudai got to be my top group from the latin world. This pop rock group from Chile makes very very good songs. I like their album Sobrevive the most, and Nadha contains some of my favourite songs.

Kidtonik



While many might not have heard of them, i think Kidtonik is the best eurodance / electronic group. In my opinion, the music can beat some of those DJs out there!

Mylène Farmer



The best french language singer ever!! or maybe even one of the best in the world at this time! Her electronic styled music is just irresistible, unforgettable, magnificent!!

RBD



Too bad this Mexican band has disbanded this year. They make some great music although sometimes their vocals are a little off. RBD, along with Kudai are my favourite bands from the Latin world. However, i think they do not deserve to be at No. 2. They are because of their "discovery" by me this year.

Nek



Nek, along with Laura Pausini are the best artists from italy i've heard ever! Similar to Laura Pausini, Nek also makes great pop music, nice rhythm, refreshing, future proof. For the same reason as RBD, i think Nek does not deserve to be at No. 1.

I hope you're having some great last days of 2009 and that you'll enjoy New Year's Eve.
I recently took some time to look at all my playlists which always make me smile when I think of how much great music I got to discover this year.
So here's my thank to the hundreds of artists and producers who love to make music and who made my days brighter.

And now here should be a picture of the special records I used to listen to last year.
(I'm a bit surprised by the choice the generator made though)


Which brings me to the more official scrobbling stats of the last 12 months - here I go...

My most played artists of 2009:

01> Madonna (over 750 plays) - The queen of pop easily reigns surpreme regarding my playlists. Not only her singles but also lots of remixes became personal highlights whenever I needed to cheer up.

02> John Mayer (about 725 plays) - He may not be a prince of pop, but I consider him a king when it comes to playing guitar or singing lyrical songs.

03> Traveling Wilburys (about 650 plays) - I'm surprised these talented musicians were that much on heavy rotation last year. Of course it's great because their songs feel like timeless classics.

04> The Killers (over 640 plays) - Apart from strange Christmas songs this band has become one of my favorites when I think about 2009. Their last album, their live DVD and their crazy videos are proof of their greatness (to my mind).

05> U2 (over 625 plays) - Another legendary band that makes me enjoying music so much - simply magnificent. Not only did they start another world tour with innovative settings, they had also a brilliant gig in front of the Brandenburg Gate.

06> Thirteen Senses (over 475 plays) - If my CD player stats would count this band would easily be among the top 4 artists. Their two albums are so fabulous. I really hope to hear from them in 2010 as there might be a third record on the way.

07> Roxette (over 460 plays) - Since I can think of enjoying pop music the songs of this duo were with me all these years. So they are still a big part of my life.

08> Bear McCreary (over 380 plays) - Another surprise. I already wrote about his great score music for the TV show "Battlestar Galactica" and that I love to listen to it while I'm reading books or comic books. What is there more to say... I probably had lots of things to read last year. ^^

09> Farin Urlaub (over 350 plays) - A German artist... finally :-P I have to admit that before 2009 I wasn't that much into his songs. So it was like discovering a new field of music when I was listening to his songs.

10> Nickelback (over 330 plays) - Mixing rock and pop elements on their last album this band made their way into my top ten of 2009.

So that was my top ten... but I'd also like to mention some more artists which made music in 2009 more fun: Kylie Minogue, Sarah McLachlan, The Fray, Bob Dylan, Lady GaGa...

01> Celebration by Madonna (over 65 plays) - Now is there a better way to end the year than this party song? :-P Big thanks also to Paul Oakenfold who produced this gem of 2009.

02> Who Says by John Mayer (over 55 plays) - That would be a good chill out (after party) track. This song made the wait for his latest album really hard. ^^

03> Fesseln by Psypirinha (over 37 plays) - One of my all time favorites when I think of this extraordinary German band. It's simple, direct and harsh.

04> Animal by Thirteen Senses (about 36 plays) - Another newly found favorite track you can find on the second album by this band. I really like the guitar part after the first verse. ^^

05> The Devil's Been Busy by Traveling Wilburys (about 35 plays) - I'm surprised this is my most played track by this band, but it's good.

06> All The Love In Your Hands by Thirteen Senses (about 34 plays) - Hm, this one's also an absolute gem of their second album. The song rocks and has also calm parts.

07> Inside Out by Traveling Wilburys (about 33 plays) - Great band, great albums, great songs. This is just my second most often played song by them. ^^

08> D.d.a.d. by Psypirinha (about 32 plays) - Love it or hate it. At first this song felt just noisy to me, but after a while I really could relate to the lyrics. ^^

09> Heading for the Light by Traveling Wilburys (about 31 plays) - A third TW-song among my top ten of 2009. Now who have thought that ^^

10> Shake It by Metro Station (about 30 plays) - And I'm closing with a surprise. I knew that I heard this song quite often, but I didn't expect it to show up here. But it also fits to start and to end the top ten with a party track. ^^

1. Sonic Heroes
Basically, this is where my Sonic obsession truly began. I was being all nostalgic in late 2003 by playing the old Master System version of Sonic the Hedgehog on an online emulator in high school. Then the following year, Sonic Heroes came out. With it being multi-platform (and I had a PS2), I thought I'd get it. What a game it turned out to be... 2. No Doubt - It's My Life
I was listening to this song all over the radio airwaves back in 2005, yet I never knew what song it was or who sang it. It took about a year or two before I realised both the name and artist, but boy, was it a song to sing!

3. Slippery Project - Something Like This (2005 remix)
Very first compilation album I ever bought. The genre? Rave. This was the summer of 2005, and I was on holiday up in Scotland when I saw the advert promoting the album (Hardcore Heaven 2). This song featured on there, and is one of the catchiest tracks of the album. But what a summer that was, haha.

4. Doop - Doop
The year was 2006. Late 2006. Not long after I broke up with my first love and went into Year 10. I discovered this song on a DDR game called Stepmania at first. But went into further research and discovered that this was a #1 track on my 2nd birthday!
During that year, from late 2006 to mid-2007, I played this song quite frequently at our school's computer room after hours. Good times, good times.

5. September - Satellites (Dancing DJ's Remix)
Once again, this was late 2006. I was off on holiday to Butlins and this track I played from the Clubland album (Volume 9 I think it was) quite frequently. It reminded me of the time of when I got close to someone, but never saw them again. Haha, ah well.

6. NAOKI - B4U
Toward the end of the 2006, I was quickly becoming obsessed with Dance Dance Revolution, Dancing Stage and Stepmania. This was one of my key songs I enjoyed playing on the Dancing Stage down at the local Megabowl (before it got shut down and replaced by a stupid storage facility). Good times, good times...

7. Sunblock feat. Robin Beck -First Time
The summer of 2006. What a summer that was. I met my first love before shattering that relationship to pieces and basically had a whale of a time! I used to go up to the local skate park every day in that summer. Everyone was actually friendly until the summer ended, then things went dark... But still, the memory's always there!

So basically, it was late 2006, everyone went to computer club and I always put this song on, it got 75% 'in the mood for fun' and the other 25% just went off home! Such a pointless song, but it's hilarity is immense!

Just before the actual summer of 2006, I saw this song on a music channel. I found the song quite interesting, yet fun (well, it beat the crap out of Sandi Thom's 'I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker' IMO).

Tittytittybangbang. Heard this song on one of their infamous episodes. Tittytittybangbang is basically a female version of Little Britain. My friend Sean and I used to watch this show all the time. Heard the song in late 2005, discovered it in late 2006, enough said, haha.

Going back to my 80's phase, I first heard this song on a summer compilation album and found it a rather cool song. Later on in 2006, my friend Sarah and I would sing this together for a laugh. Good times, good times...

Bruce Almighty. When Bruce realised he was God he sang this song on his way home!
