I'm not sure I'd call this a sad song, nor do I think Wyatt was trying to make it sad--I think the whole album is quite optimistic, which is surprising when you consider the circumstances under which it was written and recorded. The humor from some of his earlier projects is just as present here as it used to be.

I always found The Soft Machine's music to be fairly inaccessible and difficult to listen to. Some of Wyatt's solo stuff is much more enjoyable including this one, although he rather 'goes off on one' in the central section!
