Dude people who listen to "real music" or "good music" listen to anything no matter how many other people are listening to it or how "pop" it is (how is this album pop btw? reminds me of country rock more than anything) Why dont these people just listen to the albums they think are good? since they have no bussiness spluring their nonsense all over this albums shout box. Okay about the album. It's not my favorite but some of the tracks are solid. 1-4 and 6 (6 being one of the best rilo songs i've heard) are all great songs. :]

I admit that Under the Black Light is far inferior to RK's previous records, but that doesn't make it bad. It's more pop oriented for sure, but contains some solid tracks. I don't get why some people are automatically so harsh on pop music. Even though most of it is trash, I can recognize good pop when I hear it, and that's the case here. I find this album very disappointing compared to their earlier albums. It's just *too* pop now... before they had good pop sensibilities, catchy tunes, but backed up with substance and good lyrics. If i didn't expect more from the band based on past experience, I'd have stopped listening to this after 2 or 3 songs. As it is, I heard the whole thing. Just one example - Dejalo sounds like a bloody Shakira song, and a mediocre one at that... Definitely their weakest album to date.

I don't know how you could say More Adventurous is more accessible. Under the Blacklight consists of songs that mean absolutely nothing, while all previous albums use wit and cleverness to tell a story. This one lacks all of that.

i'm not sure this album is more "mainstream" really. there's nothing really mainstream about a song like smoke detector, unless we're talking mainstream circa 1962. more adventurous is definitely their most accessible.

probably because it's...different...from their earlier albums, if you've heard them. rilo kiley used to sound more indie rock, and this album is very mainstream pop. (: it's still good but personally i prefer their earlier works.

I honestly love Rilo Kiley, but I don't like this album that much at all. My favourite song being 'Close Call', which is one song I can enjoy a fair deal. But I can't stand the people complaining/not understanding about other people not liking the album... i mean... for a fair amount of people to not be feeling it as much as other albums, they can't all be wrong or just idiots. RK had so many elements which I loved about them, one being Jenny's great songwriting, which has clearly deteriorated, and their change in sound has made them fairly less unique.
