The Cranberries taki klasyk. zdarza mi się...
Faith No More mam wrażenie, że już o nich pisałam. uwielbiam pattona...
    Mr. Bungle jak wyżej :)
    Kult koncertowo jedynie...
Ugly Kid Joe najzajebiściejszy i chyba najbardziej niedoceniony w swej zajebistości głos...
System of a Down taak... nasza piewrsza wspólna piosenka to chop suey, no nie?
KoЯn początki zwłaszcza, potem o nich zapomniałam...

If you like music, you listen to it.
If you love music, you want to know all about it, especially about the roots.
Read and listen to the origins of the modern rock music.
Starting with one of the greatest guitar players in history

    Electric Ladyland

Next songs listening to are from the band called

  • bag full of new dub plates

    Jul 1 2008, 12h48 por GarciaMarquez

i've been working on the same mixtape for a while now, which currently "clocks in" around 2h40m, and needs to be compressed to 1h20m to fit on a regular audio cd. it's been difficult doing, since i've cut down on a lot of tracks already and too many of them are classics. i'm only writing on a few. here are a bunch of tracks i love more than my friends and family:

    1. Cemetery Gates by The Smiths. It took me years to really get into this band, and to tell you the truth I found their music fucking boring and really bland. At that point in time though, I'm assuming I didn't have much of an ear for pop music (which is strange because pop is probably one of the most straightforward genres in the history of music). It's easy (from my point of view) to listen to The Smiths and become turned off by the reverb-heavy 80's electro-kit snare instead of hearing the catchy chord prog etc, but this track served as an easy introduction to The Queen Is Dead and consequently the self-titled, helping me realize that pretty much every track they've taken part in is a classic (excluding the songs resulting from Johnny Marr's joining of Modest Mouse, which you can read about in my other journal). Cemetery Gates is a fucking beautiful song. Morrissey sounds like a ghost.

    2. Laws Have Changed by The New Pornographers is probably the first song I've heard by this band. They blend the sounds of power-pop with Stardust-era David Bowie. Their originality probably lies in the unconventional time signatures and harmonic keyboards that can always be tied back to the band. The three albums I own (and I think that's all they've released) are all filled with colorful tracks that get annoying QUICK. But while it lasts it's great music. I guess it means something that after two years the only track I listen to by them is this one.

    3. TocarGates of Eden by Bob Dylan. Might not keep this track. The story-telling style here sung by the nasally voice that intensifies as the track progresses is good (as far as he goes with dramatic delivery anyway). The guitar goes as a real casual backdrop here, sustaining a mood but not distracting the listeners from the lyrics.

    4. Whiter Shade Of Pale by Procol Harum is an amazingly epic track. Apparently it was this single that brought the band to fame which doesn't surprise me. Late 60's/early 70's band I think. Some great soul organs (and soul singing for that matter) work with a slowly plotted bass line. Very close to R&B for a white band of that era.

    5. TocarCan't Take You (Dif) by Dreamend is one of the shortest songs off Maybe We're Making God Sad and Lonely and therefore the least post-rock (which is what they specialize in) of the release. Pretty depressing.

    6. TocarIf It's in You by Syd Barrett is one of the most fucked up folk/solo-acoustic tracks i've heard to date. The way the ex-Pink Floyd frontman (now dead) sings clearly indicates that no man is safe from the insanity induced by extreme LSD abuse, which makes the track that much better. Surprisingly pretty guitar in this one. I have no fucking idea why they made the vocal track so loud in the mastering process.

  • Girl Talk - Feed the Animals (sample index)

    Jun 25 2008, 3h21 por wnc

So like everyone else, my mind was sufficiently blown by the new Girl Talk release Feed The Animals. Like his previous records, Greg Gillis jams an unfathomable number of samples into each track.

The following is a futile attempt at compiling a complete list of samples used in this clusterfuck of a masterpiece.

(note: about halfway through this I realized wikipedia had a reference I could have cut and paste from and thereby saved 5 hours of my life. The lesson here is that I'm retarded. Anyway, since we all know wikipedia is generated from only our most intelligent members of society, and is never tampered with in any way, I diverted to their list whenever there was a discrepancy.)
