Folk and Ambient Albums by Metal Artists

I've always been intrigued by these kinds of releases, especially when they come from artists or bands that have never shown any penchant for folk or ambient. Maybe composing, playing, and mixing all that metal gets grating after a while, and the artists just need to take a breather.

If there were multiple releases of this sort by the same artist, I used the most well-known/well-received, or maybe just with the one with track samples.

Feel free to suggest additions. Any would be greatly appreciated.

Aeldaborn (Neofolk-Dark Folk) (Recommended)
Alethes (Neofolk) (Highly recommended. Long songs with grim clean vocals, unique and underrated!)
Alphane Moon (Neofolk-Ambient)
Apatheia (Folk-Neofolk) (Recommended Swedish band with good vocals)
app 1901 (Neofolk)
Aryeh Frankfurter (Harp-Celtic-Folk) (Highly recommended, very calming and beautifully arranged songs)
Brobdingnagian Bards (Folk-Celtic-Comedy) (Some of their songs are too catchy and entertaining, not for everyone but worth a try)
Conte Cruel (Melancholic Folk) (I hope this lazy man will produce some new songs, great stuff indeed:))
Cor Solis (Neofolk)
Corde Oblique (Ethereal-Neofolk) (Highly recommended, their album "Volontà d'Arte" is a masterpiece indeed)
Diadema Tristis (Neofolk-Folk Metal) (Some of their songs are neofolk and they're pretty good)
Eltan Renaxy (Neofolk) (Interesting stuff, lovely vocals)
English Heretic (Esoteric-Weird-Neofolk-Ambient) (That's the weirdest group in this list…

Recommend me Free Albums on last.fm

As many of you know, last.fm has become a great resource for trying out new music over the years. With the addition of full album streaming, it's easier than ever. Unfortunately, there are many great albums on last.fm by very obscure artists, who the masses are missing out on because they lack for promotion. So, for my own edification and that of last.fm browsers in general, I'm hoping to assemble a decent-sized list of worthies. I already have plenty of records that I just love to death here, but I'm always looking for more.

So, shoot over your favs (must be full records, though I will listen to single songs if they look interesting) and help me on my grand crusade. Sorry about the wall of tags, but it's tricky to get the word out.

I had a literature teacher once who spent years trying to decipher the poem I've excerpted above. What he determined in the course of his studies was that what is beautiful need not always be explicable. Beauty is not something one can define; rather, it defines itself. I don't really know why Vàli's Forlatt is a great record, and something by another band, say Poropetra, is merely very good. Maybe if I were more familiar with music theory I could break…
