Pink Floyd é uma banda de rock inglesa famosa pelas suas composições de rock clássico harmônico, pelo seu estilo progressivo e pelos espetáculos ao vivo extremamente elaborados.
É um dos grupos mais influentes na história do rock, além de um dos mais bem sucedidos. Estima-se que venderam mais de 250 milhões de cópias de seus álbuns. A obra-prima The Dark Side of the Moon manteve-se no Top 100 Billboard de vendas durante mais de uma década e continua a ser um dos álbuns mais vendidos de todos os tempos.
Liderada pelo lendário cantor e compositor Syd Barrett, o grupo teve um modesto sucesso na segunda metade da década de 1960 produzindo rock psicodélico. O comportamento errático de Barrett, entretanto, forçou seus colegas de banda a afastá-lo e substituí-lo pelo guitarrista e cantor David Gilmour.
Com a saída de cena de Barrett, o baixista e vocalista Roger Waters gradualmente se tornou o líder e principal compositor da banda. Esta fase foi marcada pela produção de álbuns conceituais como The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), Animals (1977) e The Wall (1979) - álbuns que obtiveram êxito mundial, foram aclamados pela crítica especializada e figuraram em listas dos mais vendidos e populares em vários países.
Mas após o álbum The Final Cut (1983), o grupo separou-se. Em 1985, Waters declarou que o Pink Floyd estava extinto, mas os demais membros (agora liderados por Gilmour, mais o tecladista Richard Wright e o baterista Nick Mason), após briga judicial, retomaram a banda com o nome oficial e seguiram gravando e se apresentando - com grande sucesso comercial - e, finalmente, fecharam um acordo com Waters.

Money happens to be overrated I agree, but nevertheless it's an important part of the album cause of it's statements about society and it's messages.
