Sat 5 Nov – Frampton Comes Alive 35 Years Tour - An Evening with PeterI'd really been looking forward to this gig as I've grown up with the Comes Alive album (I was 16 when it came out) and I have to say it was great to hear the music live.
The band are OK... keyboard player Rob Arthur is no Bob Mayo, not reproducing some of the more dextrous work on the original album, but still providing some good stuff. Guitarist Adam Lester provided a perfectly adequate rythm to Frampton's lead, and the bass and drums were solid.
The first half of the show (nearly two hours) saw the whole Comes Alive album played in its entirety, the only difference being 'Lines on My Face' featuring as the third song rather than the second to last.
Highlights for me were the aforementioned song, Shine On (some mad guitar from both players), All I Want To Be (ably helped by the enthusiastic audience), the acoustic Penny for Your Thoughts and, of course, Do You Feel Like We Do (one of rock's legendary songs.)
