People Under The Stairs are not just a breath of fresh air, but a funky and soulful breath of dope air in the midst of a stagnating genre. I could mention how they’re similar to Ugly Duckling, Jurassic 5, Dilated Peoples or The Beatnuts but that would be placing ‘The P’ in a category, which is something that cannot be done. Are they old school hip hop? Are they funky hip hop? Are they jazzy hip hop? …They are all of these, they are hip hop in its purest form.
