O ano de 2007 consolidou-se como um ano musical, para variar um pouco - foi um ano melhor para a Música do que para o Cinema, inclusive. Descobri o Last.fm no início de Março, e desde então tenho escutado horrores, no PC e no iPod.

O que decidi fazer foi uma lista das melhores coisas que ouvi esse ano, sejam elas desse ano ou não.

Explorei um pouco o rock indie, e coisas mais 'alternativas' nesse ano de 2007. Björk, CocoRosie, Antony and the Johnsons, Arctic Monkeys, Death Cab for Cutie, Midlake, Portishead, Unkle Bob, Devendra Banhart, entre outros. Devo, para essas e outras maravilhosas descobertas, agradecimentos a colegas como Gustavo,
Vanessa, Luke e, principalmente, Brunno (links de seus perfis aqui no Last.fm).

Tivemos um CD muito bom de Marilyn Manson, o EAT ME, DRINK ME. Para dizer-lhes a verdade, não gostei do disco no início, mas sabe como é... Pegou. A única música de que gostei desde o início (If I Was Your Vampire) continua sendo a minha favorita do CD. Seu show, na Via Funchal, seguiu o caminho do disco: nas primeiras semanas depois de presenciar, pensei 'poderia ser sido tão melhor'. Na verdade, poderia sim... Mas os dois envelheceram bem a cada dia.

In Rainbows foi uma grande surpresa. Não ouvi incansavelmente como milhares de fãs por aí, até porque não sou fã doente de Radiohead. Minha faixa predileta é Videotape, de longe. Previamente, da banda, só tinha ouvido na íntegra o The Bends... Ainda quero ouvir o tão-estimado OK Computer, em um estado zen.

Depois do CD do Manson, acredito que o CD que tenha mais ouvido do ano (no ano) foi The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn, das maravilhosas meninas da CocoRosie. Simplesmente adoro o som delas, por mais que admita ser pouco apreciável, digamos assim - até importei o La maison de mon rêve. Nessa linha no New Weird America, tenho ouvido muito Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon do Devendra, ótimo CD que acabei descobrindo pela participação do Rodrigo Amarante dos Los Hermanos, que infelizmente deram um tempo nesse ano. Por causa dele, também comprei o Carnaval Só Ano Que Vem da Orquestra Imperial. Não tão Weird assim, mas o Volta da Björk é super. O show dela no TIM Festival foi muito bom, também.

Continuando nos shows do TIM Festival, ah... Arctic Monkeys, o melhor show do festival apesar da energia contagiante do The Killers. Grande álbum, Favourite Worst Nightmare, bastante coerente, energético e, enfim, candidato forte a melhor do ano. Minha predileta fica entre 505 e Do Me a Favour, mas a que mais ouvi disparado foi Fluorescent Adolescent. It's A Bit Complicated do Art Brut foi um disco que não ouvi inteiro, mas o que ouvi achei genial, e com um som similar ao dos Monkeys. Não ouvi tudo do novo do Nine Inch Nails tampouco, mas o que ouvi aprovei - especialmente The Great Destroyer e sua maluquice eletrônica.

Rufus Wainwright lançou o bom Release The Stars, mas não consegui atingir ainda todas as faixas - Going to a Town, contudo, é belíssima. Ainda em CDs que não consegui sentir por inteiro lançados esse ano, o Shine da Joni Mitchell. Fica claro pra mim que não chega nem aos pés do Blue, mas... acho que nenhum chega.

Não gostei de Era Vulgaris, quero ouvir melhor Planet Earth e Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?. Antes que perguntem, né?

Nacional, andei ouvindo bastante Capital Inicial, mas não o Eu Nunca Disse Adeus, que é meio fraquinho. OK, OK... A banda é comercialzinha sim, mas é original dos meus amados Anos 80 (pra quem também curte, visitem CogumeloMoon, onde descobri maravilhas como Zero e Fellini), são super carismáticos e performaram um dos melhores shows que já vi, isso basta. O Acústico MTV do Paulinho da Viola e do Lobão foram ótimas surpresas, também. With Lasers então, nem se fala. O pessoal do Bonde é foda. Pena que foi outra banda que partiu-se... Sem ela, não será a mesma coisa. O {Des}Concerto Ao Vivo da Pitty também agradou - na verdade, estou esperando o DVD as we speak. O show dela foi bacana, aqui em Florianópolis.

Nem vou começar a falar o que ouvi de outros anos, porque daria muuuuito pano pra manga, mas como vocês vêem, meus ídolos supremos não lançaram nada esse ano - um porque morreu (Renato Russo da Legião Urbana) e outro está por aí gravando ou quase lá, o Morrissey que lançou CD em 2006. Espero que tenhamos algo novo dele esse ano, porque a faixa That's How People Grow Up mostrou-se boa formuladora de hype.

Bom, é isso. Não tenho nenhum clímax planejado para o final. Isso é só um desabafo, gente. O ano pra música foi ótimo. okbeigos

Okay, it's time for my top 10 albums of 2007.

Since last year's journal, I decided to take note of every album released in 2007 that I gave at least one spin. Turns out I ended up listening to a total of 270 albums (!), thus making the choice kind of difficult, especially considering the vastness of different music genres comprised on that list [/end of bragging stance]. :P

Actually, I had already defined nearly all the albums of my top 10 around October, but after seeing some websites and forum threads, I had to change it a bit because of some nice surprises.

This year I resolved to make an overall chart besides the metal, non-metal, debut and live ones. Also, due to the high number of shows that happened here last year, I was able to make a top 10 out of those. ;D
