Why the fuck am I writing this, no one cares..hehe cept me
(for people who are either very bored or have no life, i think the problem is i just listen to too much damn music)

. Alice in Chains- MTV Unplugged. if u can, watch the video. Lane= amazing

. Beatles- Rubber Soul & The White Album. can never pick 1, annoying huh?

. The Breeders- Last Splash. so lovely, no aloha

. Butthole Surfers- Electriclarryland. ...interesting

. The Clash- London Calling. cliche choice but so good

. Dinosaur Jr- Where You Been?. great guitar, & puts me in a weird mood

. The Doors- Soft Parade. YOU CANNOT PETITION THE LORD WITH PRAYER !

. Dr. Dog- We All Belong. good all the way thru, especially for a current band

. Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention- Absolutely Free. an entire musical, condensed. For some stupid reason, Lastfm only has descriptions if you look it up under just Frank Zappa, but I believe in crediting the whole band

. Hole- Live Through This. very cliche choice, but 1 of the best albms of the 90s

. Iggy Pop- Lust For Life. meet me at the coffee shop, we can dance like Iggy Pop

I was curious what albums I listened to the most from 2008 so I divided the amount of plays an album got by the number of tracks on an album. It gives a good representation of what was listened to more even if there were not very many tracks on the album. I wish that last.fm would implement a feature like this as it would be informative.

Geen tweede 'To Be with You'. Gelukkig.

In Japan waren ze gigantisch, maar Mr. Big is hier eigenlijk alleen bekend van de kampvuurkraker 'To Be With You'. Maar weinigen weten dat het feitelijk om een heuse popmetalsupergroep ging, waarbij zowel bassist Bill Sheehan als gitarist Paul Gilbert hoog aangeschreven zijn. Gilbert toerde onder andere als onderdeel van het gitaarpatsercircus G3.

'To Be With You' kan je ongetwijfeld horen op de aankomende Mr. Bigreünietour. Ondertussen is Gilbert altijd gewoon stug doorgegaan in zijn tussen Aerosmith, Van Halen en Bon Jovi laverende stijl, vaak ook zonder tenenkrommende ballads.

Op UNITED STATES doet hij dat samen met de onbekende zanger Freddie Nelson. Nelson is net als Gilbert afkomstig uit Pittsburgh, waar ze elkaar kennen uit de tijd dat ze beiden hun carrière van de grond probeerden te krijgen in het lokale bandjescircuit. Maar dat betekent niet dat het hier gaat om louter een vriendendienst. Nelson zingt de sterren van de hemel; zeker in 'WASTE OF TIME' zou je zweren dat Freddie Mercury uit zijn graf is herrezen.

Gilbert levert de bijpassende catchy poprockliedjes met de licht psychedelische inslag vol hemelse koortjes die al bij Mr. Big zijn handelsmerk waren; luister vooral naar 'Paris Hilton Look-Alike'. Hij weet ondertussen ook nog zijn virtuoze solo's zo in de liedjes te stoppen dat ze een echte aanvulling zijn.

Het is alleen allemaal wel in een hopeloos ouderwetse stijl. Tienersterren als Miley Cyrus en Kelly Clarkson hebben de bubblegumhardrock weliswaar teruggebracht, maar het is maar de vraag of de dertienjarige meisjes die daar van houden iets kunnen met twee veertigers die wars zijn van elke vorm van moderniteit; die koortjes zijn zo te horen old school zuiver ingezongen in plaats van geautotuned.

My personal top ten guitar players

These are guitarists that I feel are the best. This will not include guitarists who are/were lead vocalists. That's another top ten for another time. This list may surprise you, it may not. Basically there's shredders on here. Why? I love fast guitar playing. OK enough of my rambling. Here it is!

1. Jason Becker

This man is the best guitar player period! And yes, he is number one in my opinion. I have a shitload of respect for this man. He really knew how to play the guitar. Him and Marty Friedman were a formidable guitar duo in Cacophony. Best. Guitarist. Ever. I loooooove this dude with a passion (though not as much as my BF, of course!)! If you wanna listen to the best guitar playing, I suggest you listen to him. I don't have any his works, but I will get them.

2. Steve Vai

Brilliant guitarist, he almost gets the number one spot. I've seen this dude twice live (lucky me!) and I was floored when I saw him the first time. He plays the guitar with great emotion. It's like the guitar is like an extra removable part of his body. He is really damn good. He got lessons from guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani (sorry to burst your bubble, he is NOT in my top ten!).

3. Michael Angelo Batio

This man knows how to shred and he shreds well. I love how fast he plays. He totally kicked ass in Nitro. He has blazing guitar solos that are out of this world. Totally gnarly! I suggest you listen to his Nitro stuff. It really really kicks major arse. I want to get his solo stuff.

4. Vinnie Vincent

Another speed demon on the guitar. This guy is just as unbelievable as Batio. He was in KISS for a while and replaced Ace Frehley. Yep, this guy rocks!

5. Yngwie Malmsteen

I saw him live once. I will say that I was not highly impressed. He was repetitive and it got old real fast. Why is he on my list? Well his studio recordings make up for his live performance. Get his first album and The Seventh Sign. Pretty damn epic recordings. He plays with such great emotion and all of that stuff. Totally musically-inclined and he puts his music skills to awesome use.

6. Jun Senoue

Crush 40's guitarist. I really love his riffs. His guitar solos are pretty damn cool. He earns a spot on my list. Check him out with Crush 40.

7. Paul Gilbert

Coming in at lucky 7 is this dude. I only watched and listened to him over YouTube. Man, he really has chops. This guy is fast as hell too. I want to get his stuff badly.

8. Chris Impellitteri

I know very little stuff by him. However, I did listen to whatever he had up on Impellitteri MySpace page. It was cool that I got friend requested by this band sometime this year. I wanted to listen to his stuff for quite sometime and I got the opportunity to do so. I was blown away. I want to get into his music more. He really knows how to shred.

9. Ralph Santolla

An excellent guitarist. He is a real great guitar god. I really dig his work in Obituary. They should keep him. He's on the last couple albums and he is dynamite. I find him better than James Murphy *gasp* (oh he's not on the list, oh well!). Terrific guitar player. I like him a lot.

10. criss oliva (R.I.P.)

Last, but not least... Savatage's axeman. An immensely talented guitar player. He is one of the greatest heavy metal guitarists we didn't get to know so well. He will always be remembered and his recordings live on forever. The number #10 spot was a bit tough. I almost put Randy Rhoads here, though I feel Criss Oliva deserves it more.
