Irish American singer Patrick “Pat” Monahan (born February 28, 1969 in Erie (Waterford), Pennsylvania) is the lead singer and songwriter for the Grammy award winning band Train. He is a successful solo artist, and has collaborated with multiple artists. Pat plays percussion, saxophone, mandolin, flute, electric violin, clarinet, trombone, and bongos.
Pat released his first solo album, Last of Seven, on September 18, 2007, followed by a nation-wide tour. He followed the tour up with a small, intimate acoustic tour, which inspired his “Last of Seven Acoustic,” available via digital download only.
His first solo single, “Her Eyes”, was released to radio stations in July and made the top 10 of Billboard’s Hot AC chart. His second single is “Two Ways to Say Goodbye.”
On “Last of Seven,” Pat duets with folk-rocker Brandi Carlile, a special guest appearances by Richie Sambora and Graham Nash.
Pat co-wrote with Guy Chambers two songs for Tina Turner, recorded for her recent hits album, Tina!: Her Greatest Hits.
He currently resides in Seattle, WA.

On August 5, 2007 Monahan performed the American National Anthem at the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio.

The first time I heard 'Her Eyes' I didn't know who it was, but my mind immediately flashed to Train. As always, Pat Monahan has provided awesome vocals, and even more so solo.

i just heard her eye the radio really recently and i loved it! so i called another local station to request it and they wouldnt play it... :( they told me the song was old and unseccessful. what the hell so they no! it amazing :)

There's some really great stuff on here. I prefer the rock tracks Ripple in the Water and Ooh My My, but the more contemporary stuff is really well done. Always Midnight is gorgeous and Great Escape is also very good.

The music is very similar to Train's work. So as far as sounding weird, I can't agree with that. It sounds like a pop-ier version of Train. It even has some keys in the background. It saddens me too that Rob Thomas, Emerson Hart, and now Pat Monahan are going on their own.

It's so weird hearing him outside of Train. Why does it seem like when alt-rock lead singers go solo they become more pop? Like Rob Thomas... Oh well. I still like it.
