Panic At the Disco, é uma banda de Las Vegas (Nevada, EUA), que teve seu álbum de estréia, A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out, no primeiro lugar da lista dos 200 mais vendidos da Billboard. O álbum já vendeu mais de um milhão de cópias desde o seu lançamento em Setembro de 2005.
A banda foi formada em Las Vegas pelos colegas de escola Ryan Ross na guitarra e Spencer Smith na bateria. Eles recrutaram os amigos Brent Wilson como baixista e Brendon Urie nos vocais. Seu nome foi dado por uma linha da canção Panic, em referência à música da banda The Smiths.
Para conseguirem ser ouvidos, a banda postou um comentário no link do The Livejournal de Pete Wentz (da banda Fall out Boy), abrindo link para o seu site PureVolume. Pete Wentz dirigiu até Las Vegas, tamanha foi a surpresa ao ouvir a banda, para conhecê-la e ouví-los ao vivo. Depois disso, levou os garotos para conhecer Fueled da Ramen Records, que fechou contrato quando eles ainda estavam no Ensino Médio, com a marca de Wentz, Decaydance. Eles gravaram o primeiro álbum em Bethesda (Estado de Maryland, EUA) com o produtor Matt Squire, que anteriormente havia produzido Thrice, The Receiving End of Sirens, e Northstar.
A banda atraiu considerável publicidade no decorrer do lançamento do álbum, com a revista Spin os nomeando como “banda do dia” no começo de Outubro de 2005. A banda tem também crescido em popularidade por estar sempre presente no site PureVolume, estando constantemente no seu Top 10 de bandas contratadas e alcançando número 1 no chart do Myspace.

So I was driving around listening to Fever for the first time in months just a couple days ago. And while no, it's not a terrible album, I still just can't even begin to fathom how people "looooove" Fever yet they hate Pretty.Odd. While I'll admit the second half of Fever was pretty original (cabaret pop-rock), the first half was basically just a mediocre techno version of Fall Out Boy, which is not a good thing. Brendon's voice in Fever was just way too whiney, the melodies kind of dull, and the production was extremely processed and computerized sounding. Pretty.Odd. on the other hand has much much better vocals, amazing melodies and harmony, and a real natural, real sounding production to it. Idk... I guess it all comes down to preference in the end. I just prefer good music =-P

If, when I put a CD in my drive by these guys, and it still comes up with the exclamation point when it retrieves the info, then it is staying that way. I LOVE Pretty. Odd. It's better than A Fever You Can't Sweat Out.
