This band has nothing to do with religion other than the fact that they advocate unity regardless of religion and beliefs. [2] It's why they are by far the best religious band.

This band has nothing to do with religion other than the fact that they advocate unity regardless of religion and beliefs. Instead of talking about this band's awesome viewpoint and celebrating metal like this, people are arguing. :\\

I'm anti-theist and I still love this band. Religion must become peaceful or die. It's why I respect Taoism and Buddhism above all other religions.

Apparently Orphaned Land's music isn't doing much good if the shoutbox has turned into a war in itself. War isn't good no matter how you look at it, it's one thing to defend your home but another to attack another because of selfish interests. I don't know where people get their info on that USA sponsors Genocide, i have yet to see some hard proof along that the NSA is spying on Americans through video set up around in cities when it's meant for protection and general information. 9.11 is coming up and the conspiracy theorists will be yet complaining about 9.11 as in inside job that happened over a decade ago. People like to complain and spread theories rather than doing something positive about the worlds problems.

Somehow I knew that once I will visit this amazing band's page there will be reckless arguments abut the situation here in Israel. In case you didn't notice, Orphand Land are peace supporters in all of their hearts, so just shut the fuck up and enjoy the music. this is what we're here for!

"Is not a battle or a war, Is a Genocide sponsored by the USA and the NNUU" Dude you don't live here and you don't know what going on. A genocide is defined as the systematic destruction of all or part of a racial, ethnic, religious or national group via the (a) Killing of members of the group. THAT IS NOT WHAT'S HAPPENING. We only kill the ones shooting rockets at our cities and those trying to defend them. A genocide is a murder without a cause, what's happening is the killing of terrorists who try to kill innocent people everyday. Israel has ceased fire more then a few times and Hamas won't stop shooting. Israel also ceased fire without Hamas' commitment to do so in order to avoid killing civilians, but it wouldn't fit in your washed little brain, would it? You need to understand that genocide could have been far easier than ground attack, but that's something nobody wants (obviously), so it's not happening and it never will.

you can't call them terrorists if they are merely tryin' to free their OCCUPIED land ! that's ridiculous,if that was true then George Washington,Ghandi,William Wallace are all terorrists!! this is just a modern day crusade, obviously it's not a genicide if brown people were the slaughtered ones.......

Enough of all these senseless comments about this war. I don't know what would happen if there was a neighbour country trying to bomb my city, no matter if they look Israeli or Palestinian, and all these whiners don't know either. Stop supporting or blaming what you don't know. I have a friend in Israel and I still can't agree or disagree to her points, since being there is much different than judging from our distant benches. Just enjoy the music. This is last.fm, not your ignorant opinion's wall.

  • ZadionApocalaya

This shoutbox can't go more than 5 comments without turning into another Israel vs Palestine argument. Ridiculous, man. The war is not a battle of just and unjust; it's simply two forces with opposing opinions colliding, like most wars are. People not living there need to quit fueling the flame, and those who are living there should keep their debates where they belong (AKA not in the shoutbox of a band taking a neutral position, well aware that it's a gray war, just trying to promote peace).

It's not a genocide. If the IDF wanted to kill Palestinian civilians you can be sure they wouldn't risk soliders by sending them into Gaza, bombings from the air would have been enough. And I don't think you understand the number of assassinations that were cancelled due to civilians in the area, try reading a little before you post your stupid hateful comments. Hospitals were bombed because Hamas' terrorists hid rockets in them, killing children is in no way acceptable but you cannot go into war with collateral damage (I want to make it clear that I, personally, am very sorry for every civilian that gets killed during the operation). Oh and BTW, like I said before, when the coward terrorists hide behind children in Gaza and try to kill innocent Israelis, our army is doing its best to avoid killing innocents and puts a lot of effort to protect our civilians (thanks to them, we don't have a lot of civilians killed- I suppose you've heard of Iron Dome).

Guys look at @Cabrasevera, he's so cute, isn't he? He lives in Mexico and never had to feel scared of rockets that may hit his house or his friends, and still thinks he has the right to judge a country that defends itself from terrorists. And he compared Israel to Hitler! HE IS SO FUCKING CLEVER! Sparing the lives of palestinians who are sent to protect terrorists and serve as human shields has so much in common with trying to murder an entire nation who did nothing! Shame on you mankind.

@iSui I agree with that, I still enjoy Orphaned Land quite a bit...when I think of Christian bands doing lyrics I like, it tends to be more veiled, like Demon Hunter and Blindside. Orphaned Land's vocalist speaks very good English these days, though, which definitely helps me get into their Mabool and later material.

@Sanity_Theorist I don't think you have to be religious to like music with religious themed lyrics. I'm agnostic and I care about lyrics but as long as the music is good & the lyrics are good though they may not meet my interests I listen to it. :) (Okay but then I can also listen to songs just for the music even when the lyrics are cheap, haha. :D)

Actually, Myrath and Orphaned Land are both primarily progressive metal bands. But Orphaned Land is more Opethian prog, whereas Myrath is more like Symphony X. But what sets Orphaned Land beyond Myrath IMO is that OL used middle-eastern folk more extensively than Myrath does.

  • Sanity_Theorist

I think the biggest credit I can give them is getting a staunch atheist like me to love them for their sound through being religious themed, yet not preachy. The oriental influences make them unlike any other metal band I know (Myrath don't count, different metal subgenre.)

And there is plenty of everything for every person. That's the one thing that every religion misses is that there is enough room for everyone to grow and people should be kind to one another. Peace will happen when people settle their differences and everyone can focus on a primary goal which should be to grow, to learn and to allow others to experience the same.

I do believe God exists, but not everyone listens to him. It's common sense to know that all life on this planet is important for our existence. Starting wars and war in general is a general ignorance of mankind's ability to work things out. We don't bother question why we fight over land when there is plenty of it for everyone. And if we were to run out of land, we would have to think 3 steps ahead to make sure we make the space work. If we absolutely have no space or not enough resources we can build a spaceship to colonize other worlds. Ego and selfishness has no place in our world, the sooner we realize that the sooner mankind can move on and grow. I believe that's one of the things the Bible wants, for people to grow and multiply. Well you can't multiply on a dysfunctional planet so how can you grow when things go from bad to worse. Just my 2 cents, there's nothing wrong with religion, it's that people take it the wrong way and to extremes. No one owns anything on this Earth.

    fevereiro 2014
  • spineshank155

Exactly. Well things were very different during the biblical days. People during that time lacked knowledge and understanding. They didn't possess half of the knowledge that we know today. We know the Earth is round, that there are more planets then our own. The problem with religion today is it can be more detrimental to our survival rather than beneficial. It still does provide hope for those who struggle to understand the reasons for why things happen in the world, but religion alone does not make you any more spiritual than a smart phone can make a person more intelligent. It's really up to people to look within themselves & find inner peace and then understand that there is much more to live then words in a book. Many people go to church believing that they will be saved and that's really not enough. Even those who follow the Bible step by step could be just as Evil as those who are threatening to destroy the planet.
