Ondes Martenot (Martenot Waves) named after its inventor Martenot. It's an early electronic keyboard. Appropriate for passing over such as my funeral. So much better than the dance of the marionettes.

I've never heard anything like this before! this just grabbed my attention. It makes me think about certain things that make us shocked, and stand in awe. Astonishing. This is a masterpiece to say the least. :)

@AADDFFGGVVXX (Hey, what's in a name?)-- You have a pretty good memory, actually. This beautiful, haunting and relaxing piece is for Ondes Martenot (Martenot Waves in English--named after its inventor). It's an early (20s) electronic keyboard closely related to the Theramin.... And Yes, this was for a suite of pieces (Feast of Beautiful Waters) for 6 such instruments, to be played at an international exposition in Paris in the late 30s.It's one of the earliest purely electronic works and all that--but MUCH more importantly it is a work of sublime beauty. Messiaen used it (transcribed for cello and piano) for the beautiful "Praise to the Eternity of Jesus" (English) which is Movement V of his Quartet for the End of Time. I think it's achingly beautiful to hear in that context, if you haven't already. Also, he used this instrument to great effect in his Turangalila (symphony), among other places.
