Massive Attack

(Compilation, 2006)

These English guys have been known not to be quite prolific, but each of their albums appears to miss tracks which one would prefer skipped. In other words, each LP is somewhat best of what MA have done in several recent years before the release. As of this compilation, well, this is like "best of the best". Surely, all the tracks which are well-known and considered to be their greatest. In addition to the abovementioned, we can observe several exclusive non-album tracks including I Want You featuring Madonna, I Against I featuring Mos Def and Live With Me featuring Terry Callier. A gift for fans and a need for those who want to start getting into Massive Attack.

Scatman John
Scatman's World
(LP, 1995)

I haven't heard any of jazz tracks by Scatman John which are claimed to exist, but his two solo-works (the second one being Everybody Jam!) are my favourites among dance music releases. The charm is not really in his "scat singing" manner, but in the lovely atmosphere and catchy rhythms. Despite worldwide love towards Scatman's World and Scatman (Ski-Ba-Bop-Ba-Dop-Bop), I prefer Only You and Sing Now! much more.

Eminem
Infinite
(LP, 1995)

Here it is where it all began: an underrated debut album by the well-known hip-hop singer originally known as Marshall Mathers III. Here he's not pissed off nor he shows off. Just eleven old school hip-hop tracks with straightforward lyrics and simple music. Worth a listen for Eminem's early albums listeners: nothing in common with what he's been doing since 2004.

Crimson Jazz Trio
King Crimson Songbook, Volume One
(LP, 2005)

When a long-time existing band is running out of new ideas, they always may play the last trump card: to release a bunch of live albums (see Deep Purple's endless discography) or to make up new versions of the old songs. Just like this, some part of the well-known art rock band King Crimson formed a side-project to re-record KC's eminent tracks in a jazz manner. The result is pleasant either only for those who are into KC or into jazz.

Little Richard
The Best Of Little Richard
(Compilation, 2003)

This afro-american rock-n-roller was a predecessor of "little-known" musician Elvis Presley: the one who inspired and influenced the King of rock and roll. Perhaps, that's why Long Tall Sally, Tutti Frutti and Hound Dog sound this much familiar, if you're aware of Elvis's early vinyls.

Blut aus Nord
The Work Which Transforms God
(LP, 2003)

With this particular band France got into the world of black metal: the point is that before mid-90's the only thing connecting France to black metal was Osmose Productions. Apparently, BAN's fourth studio album is no different from previous releases with the only exception for lessesing of keyboards' presence. However, I've never heard such odd guitar riffs. And they don't suck, goddammit!

Front Line Assembly
Artificial Soldier
(LP, 2006)

These Canadians have come a really long way of designing their own sound, and in 1999, as of Implode, they are finally at the very top. Since then, FLA's sound is becoming more and more magnificent making them hit their heads harder every time against the ceiling. 2006's album is a quintessence of what they're able to do with synthesizers: just a stunning work. If you're into industrial you're going to have to listen and love it; if not, you don't love industrial per se.

Nurzery [Rhymes]

(LP, 2008)

The thing called dark electro is known as a style with close limits so that each band or musical project playing it is doomed to sound either self-repeating or unoriginal. Or both. NR's debut CD is nothing new to an experienced industrial listener, but just a bunch of lovely harsh dance tracks. I'm pretty much more than satisfied.

Elvis Presley

Elvis has released more than thirty studio albums. Each of them contains several well-known hits. I don't really have a clue why I like this one the best, but it feels like I've listened to it much more times than any of the rest. If You Think I Don't Need You acted the main part for me.

Mushroomhead

Honestly, at the first listen I didn't really like this album since it's not so groundbreaking as their previously released compilation of best re-recorded tracks XX. But there are such albums which have to be listened to over and over again so that one can catch all the ideas, get all the melodies and find all the so-called secrets which go out of hearing at first listening. Consequently, most of the tracks on XIII are my favourites now. And in June it was Kill Tomorrow and One More Day which astonishingly made me psychologically orgasm.
