This is possibly THE single greatest album of all times. Everything NIN made before only seems to work up towards this timeless masterpiece, and everything they made afterwards pales in comparison. I listen to it only rarely, these days, but I still love it. It is one of the most intense pieces of music ever.

still one of the best albums ever. it's already an indisputable classic in my mind. the greatest concept album ever envisioned, and the production and arrangements are utterly astounding, especially considering that this album is way over a decade old now. shit. still gives me goosebumps.

The thing I love about this album is that no matter how many times you listen to it, you hear new sounds that you didn't before. For example, in March of the Pigs, I didn't know what the noise at the start of the song was until I listened to the album more than once. And Closer, although many say it's overrated, has so many layers of sound that it isn't possible to catch them all on the first listen through. Definitely buy the remastered version and listen to this album on a good stereo system or with good headphones...it will completely change how you look at this album.
