O Napalm Death é uma banda de grindcore da Inglaterra, formada no vilarejo de Meriden, próximo a cidade de Birmingham no ano de 1982 por Nicholas Bullen e Miles Ratledge. O grupo é conhecido como o inventor do estilo musical definido como grindcore. No entanto, a banda progrediu neste estilo e misturou sua música com influências de death metal e thrash metal. Do começo da banda não há nenhum integrante original tocando na banda hoje em dia. No álbum Scum há duas formações diferentes tocando. Membros do Napalm Death mudaram-se ou montaram bandas como Carcass, Godflesh, Cathedral e Scorn, ou montaram projetos paralelos como Painkiller, Brujeria, Lock Up, Jesu e Venomous Concept.
Apesar da banda ser a primeira banda rotulado como grindcore, algumas bandas faziam um som similar como as bandas Siege, S.O.B.,Larm, Heresy e Cryptic Slaughter, ou seja, um som rápido e brutal. No entanto, o Napalm Death semeou a fusão da agressão do punk, os blast beats, produção metálica e vocais extremamente guturais, sinônimo do grindcore até os dias de hoje e que influenciaram bandas como Nasum e Pig Destroyer.
Apesar da banda ser a primeira banda rotulado como grindcore, algumas bandas faziam um som similar como as bandas Siege, S.O.B.,Larm, Heresy e Cryptic Slaughter, ou seja, um som rápido e brutal. the first half of Scum is much better than the second half. fuck it, you can just get the Peel Sessions which has a lot of great Scum tracks recorded a LOT better.

Am I one of the very view who enjoys napalms "Experimental period"? Infact I think its their best work, sure it isnt grindcore but it still is some of their best work imo. Obviously this is not the view of many from what ive seen.

FETO is one of the sickest records going. Scum is obviously a classic and has some nuts tracks on it, but IMO From Enslavement... tops it, as its brutal brutal brutal brutal. get that shit on vinyl, it sounds nuts. I need to buy it on CD though =/
