Sobre este álbum
O potencial do novo som do My Bloody Valentine foi revelado em seu primeiro álbum, Isn’t Anything, de 1988 já pela Creation Records. O disco foi amplamente festejado pela imprensa britânica, e conquistou uma legião fiel de fãs do grupo. O impacto foi tão grande que chamou a atenção das grandes gravadoras norte-americanas, assegurando para a banda um contrato de distribuição nos EUA com a Sire/Warner. Mais dois EP’s foram lançados, Feed Me With Your Kiss e You Made Me Realise, que ampliaram ainda mais o culto ao My Bloody Valentine. Em 1989 a banda entra em estúdio para gravar seu segundo álbum e é nessa época que começam a surgir bandas fortemente influenciadas pelo My Bloody Valentine. Naquele ano, mais um EP, Glider, foi lançado, para alegria dos entusiastas da banda. No embalo do sucesso da banda, a gravadora Lazy lança uma compilação chamada Ecstacy and Wine, reunindo um LP as músicas dos EP’s Strawberry Wine e Ecstacy.
