Folks!

I'm so ready for the weekend. My apartment has been so hot that I haven't been able to get to sleep when I want, and I am really looking forward to the chance to not be woken up by an alarm clock at 630am. That's gonna be sweet. You know what else is gonna be sweet? The Omar Souleyman/Moon Pearl show at the Echo on Tuesday! You should strongly consider going to that. Us Moon Pearlians will love you for it. I'm sure Mr. Souleyman will also appreciate it (though I don't know him, so can't guarantee anything).

Raptendo 64 - 3 Volumes of N64/Hip-Hop Blends

A few months ago I completed 3 volumes (47 tracks) of blends of N64 soundtrack music and rap acapellas, wherein no game is repeated and no rapper is repeated. The main goal of this is to have a way to listen to N64 music and rap at the same time, two genres I love, but also to show that there is some really ripe material in video games ideal for sampling.

Having said that, these are simply blends (albeit with a lot of cutting and pasting), no attempt to superimpose my own drum loops was made, as a lot of these I feel are perfect as they are. Even the ones that may not have a promiment beat I kept as is in the interest of consistency, and even those I think work.

But anyway, check it out, hopefully you dig it!

Albums Of The Year 2009

Compiling this year's best of was the usual gargantuan task. I had to whittle the 152 albums I bought this year down to a top forty. In the process, I've had to get rid of *loads* of albums that I thought were wonderful. So, just to be on here is to be a winner. The competition is heinous!

This year, every band name is a link that goes to their Last.fm page so you should be able to hear clips for free. A couple of the links don't do that because the band was too obscure for Last.fm. However, this list isn't me being hipper than thou: there are artists in it that have a few hundred listeners, some that have hundreds of thousands. I likes what I likes! :-)

Also, my chart is not linked to adverts, who bought me what or who my mates are. That being said, I wish I was mates with every artist in there as they've all produced wonderful music which has sustained me through a very difficult year. Thank you for making my year brighter!
