Vor der Musik
Als Ortsansässiger war eine Anreise quasi vom Feinsten. "Lieferservice" durch meine Frau. Optimal, naja man muss auch mal Glück haben.
Die Eingänge waren mit freundlicher Security besetzt, die sogar gut informiert war, wie der Andrang am jeweils anderen Eingang aussieht. Schade nur, dass man die 0815 Ausdrucktickets von Metaltix nicht gegen Hardtickets eintauschen konnte, aber auch nur ein kleines Manko. Location an sich machte einen guten Eindruck. Boden wäre auch bei schwerem Regen nicht zum Sumpfland mutiert und war dennoch keine geschlossene oder grobkiesige Oberfläche. Eigentlich eine optimale Basis.
Ich sach mal 8 von 10 Punkte

Die Musik
Silvia Superstar: Sollte die Moderatorin Geld für Ihre "Leistung" bekommen haben, würde ich empfehlen, im nächsten Jahr, dieses Geld gleich zu spenden. Die war überflüssig.
Kamikaze Queens: Habe ich während des betretens des Geländes wahrgenommen, ist aber nicht mein Ding. Weder musikalisch, noch optisch.
Hatesphere: Hier waren schon 20 Minuten Verspätung zu vermelden. Aber Hatesphere haben zu dieser frühen Stunde gut Stimmung gemacht und der Sound war exquisit.
Anthrax: Waren mein persönliches Highlight. Klasse Set, klasse Sound, klasse Stimmung, klasse neuer Sänger. Rundum geiler Gig! Danke dafür!
The Carburetors: Sehr solider Gig mit guter Songauswahl. Hat gut unterhalten.
Peter Pan Spreedrock: Den Auftritt habe ich komplett am Bierstand verbracht.
Neara: Habe ich von etwas weiter hinten erlebt, war in Ordnung.
Elvis Jackson: hmm die sind mir völlig entfallen.
All Shall Perish: Kategorie eagl
Millencolin: Ein jüngerer Kollege meinte:" Die Idole meiner Jugend waren super!" Meine Idole waren die niemals, ich hätte auch gut und gerne auf die verzichten können.
Disco Ensemble: Aus der Ferne ganz nett
Hammerhead: Aus der Ferne komplett egal
Cro Mags: Netter Gig. Für mich zuviel "neues" Material
Sodom: Wie immer im Ruhrpott klasse, routiniert, Stimmungsgaranten
Discipline: Waren nett
Misfits: Sind auf Platte deutlich besser
The Bones: Seltsamerweise war der Sound zum ersten mal am Tag Kategorie Totalausfall. Aber der Gig war dennoch klasse.
Sepultura: HAMMER! Hab Sepultura seit dem Ausstieg von Max gemieden, aber das wird sich in Zukunft ändern!
Bloodhound Gang: Vor der Bühne war zu wenig Platz, aber es war auch aus der Ferne eine spaßige Veranstaltung.
Ich war von Sonne, Bier, Cocktails und guter Musik derart geschafft, daß ich beschloß Clawfinger, Soulfly und Motörhead ausfallen zu lassen. Die ersten 2 interessieren mich nicht wirklich und Lemmy seh ich am Wacken.
Für die Bands und so gibts auch mal 8 von 10 Punkten

Neben/Nach der Musik
Es gab überraschend wenig "Zubehörstände", was gut war. Security und Co. waren ausreichend vorhanden, nett und freundlich.
Getränke waren nicht billig, aber auch nicht überteuert, nur viel zu langsam im Ausschank. Warum bei 4 Leuten auf dem Bierwagen jeder Bestellungen annehmen und diese dann fertig machen muss, weiß ich nicht. 4 Leute => 1Zapft Bier, 1 Nicht alkoholisches und die anderen 2 bearbeiten die Bestellungen. Dazu hat jeder eine praktische Gürteltasche mit Wechselgeld, so daß nicht alle immer zu der einen Kasse am Wagen rennen müssen. Auch, daß die Bierstände durch die Zuschauermenge hindurch beliefert werden mussten war sehr unglücklich.
Die Tatsache, daß man nicht raus-und-rein-gehen konnte wie einem beliebt wurde mir erst später klar und mir ist bis dato kein Grund für so eine Regelung eingefallen. Das sollte man nicht wieder so handhaben.
Heimweg war ebenso optimal wie der Hinweg *fg*

Der Tag fing früh an. War wettermäßig sehr fordernd. Anthrax am morgen vertreiben Kummer und Sorgen. Alles in allem ein gutes Debuet Festival. Nur unbedingt die Getränkesituation verbessern und mich raus und wieder rein lassen!

Me and my good friend gulack went to the second weekend of the Metalwäy Festival 2009, and what a great festival it was. The wind didn't blow no where near as strong as it was reported on the past weekend and it was very hot. We went from Lisbon to Madrid by plane and then to Zaragoza by bus. We arrived at the Delicias station and headed to Plaza de San Francisco where we had dinner at the nearby Telepizza. Then we took the bus to the festival place. After managing to buy the tickets we went to the camping area where we set up the tent. People were arriving and one could hear people singing heavy metal songs everywhere.

On friday the bands I wanted to see the most were Queensrÿche, Twisted Sister, Motörhead and Warlock. As Epica were playing we approached the stage to get a good spot for Amon Amarth that was playing next and also to enjoy the looks of Simone who is very pretty live. Amon Amarth was quite good, they always manage to give good concerts. Didn't see Tesla and saw Tarja from distance on the seats. She played a couple of Nightwish songs and that "Over the hills and far away" cover from Gary Moore. As with Apocalyptica, their concerts were nothing special.

Now Queensÿche... that was disappointing. The only songs they played which I knew were Walking In The Shadows and Jet City Woman and no songs from Operation Mindcrime?!

Twisted Sister was AWESOME! They played the Stay Hungry from start to finish. One could see they were happy to be there. One of the guitar players was always translating to Spanish what Dee Snider was saying as he was always saying some "spaniglish" sentences. One of the moments I found hilarious on this concert was when they did a bit of the "We're not gonna take it" but in a different version. I supposed the Spanish people sing "Huevos con aceite" (eggs with olive oil) instead of "We're not gonna take it".

Motörhead, from England, and they play rock fuckin' roll. Great concert from these veterans. Dee Snider also joined them on Killed By Death to sing to chorus.

WARLOCK, once in a lifetime concert as I might not see them ever again. They did a great concert playing Metal Racer, Burning the Witches, East Meets West, All We Area, I Rule The Ruins, Für Immer.. Doro looked sexy as hell in that studded leather pants and jacket.

On Saturday, I finally saw Candlemass, one of my favourite bands. For me 1 hour of concert was short. They played a If I Ever Die, Hammer of Doom, Samaritan, Dark Are the Veils of Death, Solitude, At The Gallows End.. I went to their signing session and got my white t-shirt from Death Magic Doom signed by all members with the promise to play in Portugal one day. NOW COME!

Moonspell.. I don't particularly like their last albums but I wanted to be there up front and support the only Portuguese act on the festival. I was very proud to see Moonspell for the first time outside of Portugal and everyone singing along their songs. In the end they thanked the Portuguese fans who came to see them.

Immortal, I only like this band from At The Heart of Winter on. The rest is too tr00 kvlt for me. I might have to give them another try. They played One By One, Sons Of Northern Darkness, Battles in The North, among other and gave an excellent concert with pyrotechnics, fire spitting and some "a-la Immortal" poses.

And Manowar.. finally!
The sound of sirens started and Joey told the posers to leave the hall and the true metal fans to approach the stage. Then a true-show-off-look-at-me-i'm-awesome-heavy-metal concert started and it was I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E. They played Fast Taker, BLOOD OF MY FUCKIN' ENEMIES, Kill With Power, Battler Hymns among many others and ended with The Crown And The Ring with fireworks which caused every single air on my body to stand. It was a top notch performance to end this great festival.

I think the Metalẅay 2009 was well organized. I never waited much time go get something to drink, to have a bath or to go to the bathroom. The food prices were not cheap but acceptable. The beer was EXPENSIVE! 8€ for a litre of beer?! The camping are was the worst part of this festival, a very dry are filled with dust and NO SHADES!

After Manowar we wrapped our things and headed to the bus station and there we waited for the bus that took us back to Madrid where we caught a plane back to Portugal.
