Ela é uma premiada cantora, bastante conhecida por singles como : “Scar”, “The Special Two” e “Steer”. Missy Higgins tem uma presença notável, cantando, tocando piano e violão, além de compor várias músicas.
Teve sua carreira profissional na música iniciada em 2001 enquanto ela ainda estava na escola.
Após atrair a atenção de John Watson, ela lançou seu primeiro EP em 2003. Seu segundo EP, Scar, foi lançado em 2004, alcançando o primeiro lugar nas paradas australianas. O primeiro albúm, The Sound of White, foi lançado em setembro de 2004.
“The Special Two” (seu 3° single) foi aclamado comercialmente e pela crítica, se tornando um hit na Austrália e atingindo, rapidamente, o segundo lugar nas paradas.
Em 2006 ela fez uma tour pelos EUA, Reino Unido e África do Sul com sua banda e foi para Los Angeles gravar seu segundo albúm com o produtor Mitchell Froom. Seu segundo albúm, On a Clear Night, foi lançando em 2007, tendo a música “Steer” como primeiro single.
Em julho de 2007 ela participou da apresentação Australiana de Live Earth.
Seumais recente Single, “Where I Stood” foi tocado em várias séries de sucesso dos EUA, como: Grey’s Anatomy, NCIS, Smallville,”Lipstick Jungle”, The Hills e One Tree Hill.

There is no reason to dislike Missy, probably the biggest female pop artist in Australia at the moment. She does not sing with over-emotive Idol fakery; she does not write lyrics with the emotional depth of gold lame micro shorts; she does not offer jailbait videos while professing chastity; and, Lordy, she does not fall pregnant to fortune-hunting photographers.
