“Whiskey in the Jar” is a famous Irish traditional song, usually set in the Cork and Kerry mountains, about a highwayman who is betrayed by his wife or lover. One of the most widely performed traditional Irish songs, it has been recorded by professional artists since the 1950s, but was first given wide exposure by the Irish folk band The Dubliners who performed it internationally as a signature song, and recorded it on three albums in the 1960s.

Metallica is awesome, but i definitly have to go with Thin Lizzy for this song. Phil Lynott's vocals are much more appropiate. However, Metallica is the most popular band, and so, has more "Whiskey in the Jar" scrobblings, which is a shame.

This is without doubt the worst cover of any song i have ever heard. Metallica must be the worst band I have ever heard in my whole life. Bar possibly those emo fag disasters like Bring Me The Horizon. Some arsehole always puts this on at the pub where i drink and I get as riled as a gorilla over it. Why would you listen to this crap when you could listen to the thin lizzy version which is one of the all time great songs. And seeing as theirs is a cover as well that is no lean feat.
