Nowy album Marka Knopflera jest już piątym w tym stuleciu krążkiem Artysty. Materiał powstał w British Grove Studios w Londynie. W pracy towarzyszyli mu wieloletni współpracownicy - Chuck Ainlay i Guy Fletcher. Oprócz stałego składu muzycznego, z którym gra Knopfler w studiu wspierali go doskonali muzycy: akordeonista Phil Cunningham i flecista Michael McGoldrick oraz najnowszy "nabytek" - multiinstrumentalista John McCusker.

Sam album to niezwykła kombinacja bluesa i folku oraz osobistych tekstów, w większości opartych na wspomnieniach Knopflera. Jeśli "Get Lucky" miałby być powieścią to z pewnością stałby się poczytną książką dzięki bohaterom piosenek Knopflera, takim jak kierowca ciężarówki z "Border Reiver" utworu otwierającego płytę, czy pracownik wesołego miasteczka i zbieracz owoców (z tytułowego "Get Lucky"), zaginiony podczas wojny wujek Knopflera, którego autor nigdy nie poznał z "Piper To the End". Na wszystkie teksty piosenek z "Get Lucky" trzeba patrzeć przez pryzmat jego dzieciństwa, które spędził w Glasgow i Newcastle. "Czy próbowaliście kiedyś uciec od dzieciństwa? Wiele rzeczy, które fascynowały nas jako dzieci zostaje z nami przez całe życie" - mówi Mark Knopfler - "Na Salters Road w Newcastle jest mały sklep muzyczny, w którym któregoś dnia zobaczyłem na wystawie Fendera Statocastera. Byłem nim zafascynowany i często chodziłem, by tylko popatrzeć na tę gitarę. Nadal zdarza mi się tam zaglądać" - wspomina Mark.

DVD zawiera wersję akustyczną jednego utworu, wirtualną wycieczkę po Grove Studios (studia nagrań, którego Mark Knopfler jest właścicielem) oraz film zza kulisów sesji zdjęciowej.
