Undoubtedly, MUSIQAT has succeeded -these last years- to manage its self as one of the major musical events in Tunisia..
& despite it's young age, this particular appointement dedicated to ethnic music is widening its vista -year after year- to bring us more and more surprising artists & exciting works.

Overhanging SIDI BU SAID hill, the elegant and luxurious castle of ENNEJMA EZZAHRA has been -not only- a very suitable place for such concerts, but has also added a zest of "prestige" to the event's image.
Nevertheless, this venue have reached its limits in terms of capacity.. & that was obvious in Rodrigo Costa Felix concert, with a shortage of tickets 10 days before, & an overbooking that led a few persons to follow the show from the upper hall gallery :(
I think that they should manage how to programm a part of the concerts in the neighbouring ACROPOLIUM in CARTHAGE city , although it shelters simultaneously the the CLASSICAL MUSICAL OCTOBER

Anyway, that was also a premise of success..& we haven't been disappointed !
Behind a suave and -somewhat- reserved personality, Rodrigo Costa Felix holds an audacious voice, allying vigor, smoothness.. & mainly, a hearty expressivity which succeeded to bereave us of any skepticism.
As we could scarcely catch some understandable latin portugese words "on the fly", an instrumental prelude was several times run with a traduction of the titles & sometimes the context in wich the song was written.

Two main facts have also contributed to the success of the concert :
- The presence of Rodrigo's wife as second portugese-guitar player in the group, was a cute-pretty fact :) & a special ovation was reserved to "Ballada ao meu amor" .. a song dedicated to "Marta"
- The presence of Mario Pacheco : talented composer, attentive conductor, & first portugese-guitar player of the ensemble.. the fifties passed, this carismatic and vivacious person has likely robbed the "star turn" to Rodrigo Costa Felix !
His insrtumental performences were acclaimed with a such fervor that led "Rodrigo" to tease publically his friend : " Well.. I think this is the last time you come with me :) " he said.

I found the music of Mario Pacheco (& behind, the fado in general) as a kind of dulcet blues with rich melodies rocking between occidental rigorism -on one hand- , & captivating dreamy orientalism -on the other- .. The very particular "portugese-guitar" holds most of the originality of how this music sounds, while the impassionned lyrics should hold its soul (unfortunate was the fact that we could not understand well the portugese !!!)

Mario Pacheco has featured most of the new generation fado singers ..Rodrigo Costa Felix , Ana Sofia Varela , Camane , or Mariza (first fado album I've listened to was MARIZA's "Terra")
He was also awarded the first Cesaria Evoria fado's price in 2006 (created in 2005)
