A banda de black metal da Suécia Lord Belial foi formada em 1992 pelo vocalista/guitarrista Dark, pelo guitarrista Vassago, pelo baixista Bloodlord e pelo baterista Sin. A banda logo gravou sua primeira demo, “The Art of Dying”; sua seqüência em 1994, “Into The Frozen Shadows”, garantiu ao Lord Belial um contrato com o selo No Fashion, e um ano depois eles lançaram um LP de estréia apropriado, “Kiss The Goat”. O muito atrasado “Enter the Moonlight Gate” veio na metade de 1997, quando o Lord Belial já havia viajado por sua terra natal em turnê duas vezes e foi atração principal na Alemanha; turnês com o Dismember, Disfear e o Satanic Slaughter precederam o lançamento de “Unholy Crusade” em 1999.

I consider Blut aus Nord's Memoria Vetusta I essential, but that's about it. Early Mutiilation is good, but if one skipped them entirely they wouldn't be missing out on too much.
