    http://www.lastfm.pl/event/739386+Coke+Live+Music+Festival+2009

Pierwszego dnia interesowało mnie właściwie tylko The Streets. Niestety miałem rację, bo 5 minutach ruszałem obok na piwko, żeby zmiękczyć swój umysł przed The Killers. TocarHuman było słychać z daleka. Dziwnie zaczęli koncert swoim największym hitem. Prawdopodobnie po to by zniechęcić przypadkowych ludzi do posłuchania reszty koncertu.

  • My Favorites of 2008

    Jan 1 2009, 21h36 por rokusasu

Hi, nice to see you in oh nine. Let's look back at yesterday to my favorite albums, mixtapes, and songs of 2008.

    Albums

    Kanye West - 808s & Heartbreak
Comments: Don't hate -- this was my favorite album of 2008. It's basic themes, ethereal symbolism, and vibrant beats fascinated me. In a time of repetitive and mundane hip-hop, it's good to see that 'Ye is full of surprises.

    T.I. - Paper Trail
Comments: Vindication with a fun side. Nice. This was much more insightful and self-reflecting than T.I. vs. T.I.P. If anyone doubts Tip's self-proclamation as King, then this album is the only trail of evidence he needs as proof.

    Nas - Untitled
Comments: I was a little disappointed that this album wasn't titled "Nigger" but it was still epic nonetheless. Nasir's intelligent social commentary and perspectives of racism in the past and present shine in this album. Nas is legend, need I say more?

Lil Wayne - Tha Carter III
Comments: The best-selling album of 2008. What appealed to me most was Weezy's masterful manipulation of words and the catchy production. I've never really listened to any of Wayne's stuff until this album, so I'd say it was a great first impression.

    Mariah Carey - E=MC²
Comments: Not as spectacular as The Emancipation of Mimi but this is still a great follow-up. Plenty of sing-along moments and a variety of subjects (well varying view points of love) are featured in MC's second emancipation. I also liked the strange aura surrounding this album, it seems darker than its predecessor.

    Now the Mixtapes...
I didn't listen to many mixtapes in 2008 (or not that I remember, lol) but here are a few that I enjoyed listening to.

G-Unit - Return of the Body Snatchers Vol. 1
Comments: I liked all of the G-Unit releases in 2008 but this would have to be my favorite since it signaled their return to full form. 50's charisma, Banks's wit, and even Yayo's tenacity complimented and contrasted each other, making this mixtape yet another G-Unit classic.

Lloyd Banks - Return of the PLK
Comments: Banks killed 'em with more punchlines than Comedy Central. PLK all day, that's all I have to say.

    Chamillionaire - Mixtape Messiah 5
Comments: MM4 was flat so it was nice to see King Koopa bounce back with 5. As usual: soulful singing and more similes about jewelry than Tiffany's & Co. in the holiday season. There are also plenty of deep tracks for all of you folks who don't care about the former.

    Finally... Songs!
    Don't laugh, 'kay?

    1. Rihanna - TocarDisturbia
    2. T.I. - TocarWhatever You Like
    3. Lloyd Banks - Hard Days / RIP
    4. Lloyd Banks - Shine Thru
    5. Kanye West - TocarHeartless
    6. Britney Spears - TocarRadar
    7. Mariah Carey - TocarMigrate
    8. The Game - TocarAngel
    9. Lil Wayne - TocarComfortable
    10. Akon - TocarHolla Holla

  • New mash up. Alphabeat / Busta Rhymes

    Dez 10 2008, 13h49 por Hippomothamus

So I just put out a new little mash up. I made it just because I thought the video would be awesome.

It features a mix of Busta Rhymes - Touch It (Remix) (ft. Mary J. Blige, Missy Elliot, Papoose, Lloyd Banks, and DMX) mixed with Alphabeat - Fascination.

Check it out here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAbMHiHhaK8, or watch below.

  • Required listening, bitches

    Dez 9 2008, 7h27 por pamento

2008 has been a pretty good year for music. I thought that I'd put some shine on some of my favorite albums/songs of the year. (I'll probably update this if something that's worthy enough comes out later this month).

    Elzhi - The Preface

In case you don't know who this guy is, he's one half of Detroit duo, Slum Village. Elzhi is definitely an MC's MC. He has a very versatile flow and can go from storytelling to punch line heavy raps. This is definitely one of the best rap albums of the year. That is partially due to Black Milk who produced this entire album (as far as I know). BM has been on a roll for like two years now, definitely one of the best hip hop producers to come through in a long time. If only he was a better rapper, his first album could have been a classic.

50 Cent - Sincerely Yours, Southside

Who would have thought that 50 would put out one of the better mixtapes of the year? This mixtape is better than "Bodysnatchers" and "Elephant in the Sand" because: 1) boring ass Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo aren't on it and 2) 50 is rapping over a bunch of classic R&B and funk tracks (Prince, Stevie Wonder, Rick James, ect). And the fact that he spits like one verse then lets the music play makes it that much more enjoyable. Not saying that he's a bad rapper, but still...

Rhymefest - Man In The Mirror

Rhymefest is rapping over a bunch of chopped up Michael Jackson/Jackson 5 songs. What more do I need to say?? Well I guess I should point out that the "conversations" that Mike and Rhymefest have are hilarious.

    Robyn - Robyn

This is pop at its finest. Robyn has been around for a while but this was my introduction to her. This album is full of catchy (and funny) tracks. Check this out.

Other albums that I really liked this year:
A.B.N. - It Is What It Is

I'm a big Z-Ro fan... Trae is cool too. If you're a fan of either then this should be a no brainer.

    Ashlee Simpson - Bittersweet World

This is what Gwen Stefani's second album should have sounded like.

Atmosphere - Sad Clown, Bad Spring #12 and Strictly Leakage

Both of these releases show both Slug and Ant at their best. I like both of these more than their actual album they released this year.

Any one of those B.O.B mixtapes because they pretty much contained a lot of the same songs

    Black Milk - Tronic
He's not the best rapper in the world but he gets the job done. The production still has that grimy sound that i love (except for some fruity song with some crappy pop singer).

    Cat Power - Jukebox

    Chan can do no wrong

Clipse - Road To Till The Casket Drops

Sometimes I feel like i'm a Clipse stan but all of their stuff is hot to me (except for that Re-Up Gang album) so i don't really care.

Does It Offend You, Yeah? - You Have No Idea What You're Getting Yourself Into

    Electronica with a rock edge.

    Duffy - Rockferry

    The new Dusty Springfield

    Evidence - The Layover E.P.

The man who put out the best rap album of 07 came back this year with more heat.

Girl Talk - Feed The Animals

This album is basically a 53 minute mash-up of random song clips. It's pretty amazing.

    GZA/Genius - Pro Tools

I was pretty surprised by how good this album was...

Hercules and Love Affair - Hercules And Love Affair

Maybe the best electronic album of the year?

    Invincible - Shapeshifters

The most overlooked album of the year. I can't think of the last time a female mc put out a good album.

    Jazmine Sullivan - Fearless

Just think Amy Winehouse meets Lauryn Hill. You'll have Jazmine Sullivan. TocarNeed U Bad is probably one of the best songs of the year.

    Johnson & Jonson - Johnson & Jonson

    Johnson & Johnson >>> Blu & Exile
    Don't believe the hype!

Juno - Music From The Motion Picture

    Kanye West - 808s & Heartbreak

I kinda hated this album when I first heard it but it really grew on me. I'll take Kanye's autotuned voice over Common's garbage ass rapping anyday.

Killer Mike - I Pledge Allegiance to the Grind II

This is not the classic that Killer Kill makes it out to be, but it's still really good.

Lil Mama - VYP - Voice of the Young People

Forget what you heard, Lil Mama can rap her ass off. She also knows how to make great songs. This is definitely the surprise of the year.

MC Esoteric - Esoteric Vs. Japan: Pterodactyl Takes Tokyo

The best rap album of the year, easily. Esoteric digs up a bunch of Japanese samples, chops em up and spits flames over em. This kind of creativity puts this album above the rest.

    Q-Tip - The Renaissance

Raheem DeVaughn - Love Behind The Melody
Re-Up Gang - We Got it 4 Cheap, Vol. 3
    Tiffany Evans - Tiffany Evans
The Ting Tings - We Started Nothing
    Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend

    Indie rock meets african pop

Wale - The Mixtape About Nothing

Nowhere as good as the near-classic 100 Miles and Running, but still one of the best mixtapes of the year.

Zo! and Tigallo - Love The 80's

Jazz musician, Zo!, and Phonte from Little Brother remake a bunch of classic 80's songs including Take On Me (my personal favorite).
