My 1000 letters: This is EXACTLY the kind of music that is so much better than music. All “regular” music is just pretty sounds strewn together, a kind of harmonic joke. Lee Ranaldo writes modern existentialist beatnik poetry, expressed through voice and other noise makers. I love the sound of Lee’s voice, his tonalities. I love Lee’s words. His words sound to me as if I wrote them myself. I think that exact same way. I can predict what he will next say; where he will next travel. This music makes me feel as if I’m floating freely through the universe, a beautifully cold alien feeling – completely detached from humanity, a wondrous heroin high. A feeling of feelinglessness. You know that cold empty heartbreaking feeling you get when you drive across the bridge into San Francisco – so many people – so impersonal? That utter aloneness that I feed upon and feeds upon me. I am so alone - it is mine alone, my aloneness. This isn’t music; this is post modern sonic art.
