É chover no molhado apontar o Angrae toda sua história como fundamentais para o crescimento e valorização do Metal brasileiro em todo mundo. Ainda mais agora que o quinteto formado hoje por Edu Falaschi (vocais), Rafael Bittencourte Kiko Loureiro (guitarras), Felipe Andreoli(baixo), além do retorno do baterista Ricardo Confessori, que além de realizar a tour do Angels Cry, registrou os álbuns Holy Land e Fireworks, estão em plena turnê ao lado de outro grande dinossauro de nossa música pesada, o Sepultura. Em entrevista, Edu, Kiko e Rafael responderam sobre os mais diversos temas relacionados à carreira do grupo. O papo foi tão extenso e prolífico que dividimos em duas partes, sendo que a primeira delas pode ser conferida logo abaixo.

Tendo em vista que já estamos na segunda parte da atual turnê do grupo com o Sepultura, qual é o saldo dela até o presente momento?
Edu Falaschi: Tudo está sendo muito bacana. O entrosamento das duas bandas está sendo ótimo. Aliás, amizade e parceria eram elementos cruciais nessa turnê e tivemos tudo rolando perfeitamente todo o tempo! Acredito que como marketing, esse giro está sendo muito bom pra cena Heavy brazuca.
Essa união do Angra com o Sepultura tem sido benéfico pra toda nossa cena, e o mais interessante é que de show pra show vocês tem variado bastante o set list. Pessoalmente gosto muito das interpretações do Edu Falaschi para as músicas da fase do André Matos, sendo assim, ver “Lisbon” e “Silence And Distance” em algumas ocasiões foi bastante animador...
Edu Falaschi: É bem mais bacana quando variamos e podemos ver as diferentes reações a cada apresentação, além, é claro, de ter sempre algo novo pra cantar. Músicas como essas que você citou caem bem na minha interpretação, não são tão agudas e tem uma harmonia bastante favorável. Obviamente, mesmo músicas que eu escrevi como “Nova Era” e “Spread Your Fire” são em tons altos, mas dentro da normalidade. Existem músicas mais antigas que estrapolam a tessitura de uma voz masculina, aí realmente não gosto de fazê-las, pois não são mesmo minha praia.
Hoje o Angra trabalha com uma nova equipe, que conta com a Base2 Produções e a MS Metal Press. Como vocês avaliam o trabalho desse novo time ao lado de vocês músicos?
Edu Falaschi: Eu sempre digo que a união faz a força! E junto com esses parceiros podemos concretizar muitas coisas. Todas as pessoas envolvidas no trabalho de uma banda são altamente importantes. O roadie, técnico de som, de luz, camareira, empresário, booking, tour manager, motorista, assessoria de imprensa, etc. Sem essas pessoas certamente as coisas não funcionariam. Não adianta gravarmos um disco como Temple Of Shadows e não ter esses anjos ao nosso lado pra fazer a coisa toda andar.

...Is this the truth???

We all question ourselves about our own existence and its purpose.
Fear is what ignorance is made of, and I’m surely not afraid of dying but I really want to know why I’m here before that happens. And to be honest I would rather die suffering the most terrible pains than to just fade out while I sleep.

Some people shut down this way of thinking by simply believing in something that supposedly offers them all the answers, which are never really answered. And that something we call religion

What is the real purpose of religion?
It is supposed to help people curb their lower nature; man transiting from the animal to the human specie, has so much of the lower nature ingrained in him.
As a human being, you have the technology of mind, senses, intellect, and self awareness; all this equipment is supposed to help you to accelerate your evolution. Being steeped in lower nature, humans just create more problems and degradation in the world; they create imbalance, destroying the rest of humanity.
Religion was formulated to help man rise above and subdue the lower nature through fear and superstition. In this way, society will be of higher quality and we will be better human beings. This will help to create a better world. That should be the purpose of religion.
But the more I study history, the more I see that religion has been the source and the cause for most of the conflicts in the world; most of the wars and atrocities In the world were in the name of religion. That makes one wonder what is the real purpose of religion.

Religion creates so much hatred and fanaticism, causing people to lose all sense of humanity, where instead, the real purpose of religion is to make people more loving, tolerant and kind.

Throughout the world people are being exploited in the name of God.
Religious leaders use that fear of God and their power to control people, keeping them in bondage and superstition.

When you control people’s mind and keep them in ignorance and darkness that is the greatest violence.

When people are enslaved physically, they still have freedom of mind, as expressed by Jean-Paul Sartre in The Flies referring to freedom as a state of mind. Having spent some time in prison camp, he knew quite a bit. And his point about freedom is worth considering. In his philosophical view of existentialism, being free mostly has to do with knowing that you are free.
So even if you are imprisoned you are allowed a freedom of mind, of morality, of belief, and of self, even if physically confined.
But when you take away the freedom of mind and instill fear and superstition in people’s minds, then they would be degrading their consciousness. ENSLAVING YOUR MIND

People are enslaved anyhow all the time in the pursuit of wealth and pleasure, trying to satisfy their greed.

The Dilemma of Desire developed by Arthur Schopenhauer explains Life as an expression of the will is basically goal-oriented. We are always seeking something. This is true of all life, but most of all of the higher conscious animals. So long as we seek our goal, we are not satisfied and the unfulfilled desire drives us forward. If we do not satisfy the desire, then we remain unfulfilled. But if we do satisfy the desire and win the goal, then we have no more motivation and life has basically come to an end. Thus, life is motion towards a goal. If we do not get the goal, then we remain dissatisfied. If we do get the goal, then the life-force ceases. Either way, the fulfillment of desire is impossible. We cannot have a fully fulfilled life and enjoy it too.

If reality is the blind will to live, and the world is the objectivity of such a blind will, life is painful misery. To desire signifies suffering distress on account of the lack of what is desired. If the desire is not satisfied, the distress remains and increases; if it is satisfied, satiety and annoyance follow, and this in turn causes new desires and new distresses. ENSLAVING YOUR MIND

Well, if this has not cheered you up let me tell you we shall do best to think of life ...as a process of disillusionment: since this is, clearly enough, what everything that happens to us is calculated to produce.
This may sound harsh but it opens a whole new world of ideas and possibilities, i will try to make it plain and simple for you all to understand. If you really want to enjoy life see the glass totally empty, that way you will never get disappointed.

This all sums up in this phrase left by writer Isaac Asimov:
"Whatever the tortures of hell, I think the boredom of heaven would be even worse."
Our minds are in control. Instead of the mind being the tool, we are the tool.

The vast majority of the population is unaware that they are slaves to their own minds and emotions.....which is why there is so much suffering, addiction, dishonesty and etcetera in this world. In fact, it is the soul cause of all humanity's greatest woes.

We can never have a true sense fulfillment in our lives as long as our minds are either constantly in the past or in the future.

Only when we are able to separate ourselves from our minds constant analyzing and judging of everything can we grasp truth.

...Is this the truth?
And is the path to "enlightenment" learning how to observe and separate yourself from your mind and emotions?
To live in the moment?
Is there any connection in this to the meaning of life?

”The world is like a ride in an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly coloured and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while.
