Ok, so a significant part of the draw to Last.fm has always been the recommendations.

You listen to a bunch of tracks that you like and through the magic of databases, algorithms, and other listeners with similar tastes; you're presented with artist recommendations courtesy of the machine.

Their used to be a sweet feature subset of the recommendation engine that allowed groups and other users to send you recommendations to which you could also mix in to your musical discovery journey.

Unfortunately with the most recent 'overhaul' of the site, group recommendations went away completely and personal recommendations went to pot. Instead of being displayed on a singular page and allowed to populate a radio stream of unbroken recommendations, they now appear in your inbox where you have to sample them one-at-a-time.

Not nearly as fun nor conducive to the discovery listening process. :-(

I'd previously found a tool (I'll stick a link in here later) that would scrape some of your top artists data and present you a cloud of recommended artists -- it worked as good or better than the machine recommendations mentioned above.

As good as artists recommendations are however, I've always hoped for a track recommendation system... and now there is!

My understanding is that your top tracks are compiled, the most similar tracks to these, which you have not previously scrobbled, are extrapolated and then weighted on how many times they appear as a similar track to one of your top tracks. You're then presented with a list and a Last.fm friendly bb code you can copy-paste. One day hopefully there will be the ability to quickly dump the list in to a playlist or mass tag the result set in order to effortlessly begin the listening discovery process.

Until such time we'll just have to dump them somewhere here, such as a journal and either sample independantly, or use the resulting links to compile a tag set or playlist ourselves.

They say that one day in the future, the machines will do all the work for us, instead of us doing all the work for the machines...

IIRC, the first list is from feeding in my top 50 tracks, and the second list (which should be more accurate) is from feeding in my top 200. I decided to save both for sake of comparison. I expect a lot of duplicates, which should be strongly recommended, but am also interested in the uniques.

The author of this tool, kurtrips also presents a 'Random Song Statistics' generator, that will reveal how many unique tracks represent the total of all your listened tracks, and present as well an SRI or 'Song Repetition Index' representing how many times you listen to a track, when averaged over all the tracks to which you have listened.

In fact, you need to run the Random Song Statistics tool on that site before you can benefit from running the Song Recommendation Tool.

Ahoj :) Od mýho předešlýho journalu na tohle téma uplynulo už pár měsíců a tak jsem se rozhod udělat novej :) Pro ty, který nevěděj, o co jde, radši připíšu něco k historii: S nápadem uspořádat český skupiny podle poslouchanosti na last.fm přišel jako první uživatel jménem space-lemon. Ten napsal tento (18.9.2007) článek, kterým jsem se nechal inspirovat a vytvořil tak svůj vlastní žebříček, přibližně půl roku po space-lemonovým článku. Tenhle žebříček najdete tady a tady. Oba jsou původně z 21.3.2008, ale omylem jsem je tam nějak dostal dvakrát a protože jsou už u každýho komentáře, nechce se mi to mazat :)
No, každopádně i tenhle žebříček je už poměrně zastaralej, takže sem se rozhod udělat novej. Všechno zůstává při starým, takže pokud něčemu nerozumíte, mrknětě se na starší journal, všechno je tam popsaný. Jediná změna nastala u skupiny Elán, která má pod jménem "Elan" ještě nějakýho Mexičana, takže místo abych započítal celej počet poslechů artista "Elan", našel jsem si jeho nejposlouchanější písničky, určil, kolik procent z nich patří slovenskýmu Elánu a tolik procent poslechů jsem pak započítal :) Nevim, jestli mi rozumíte, ale to vlastně ani neni až tak podstatný :D Jinak český umělci sou do 50 000 poslechů, pokud maj míň, nenajdete je tu.. U slovenských je hranice o něco níž - 30 000 poslechů. Je ale možný, že sem nějaký vynechal, za to se omlouvám, ale je toho strašně moc a tak se prostě může stát, že mi něco vypadne. Každopádně pokud tady budete postrádat někoho, kdo má víc než 50/30 000 poslechů, rozhodně mi to napište do komentářů, příště už tu bude :) To je asi tak všechno, teď už žebříčky:

Pozn.1: Pokud někde najdete větší nárůst, je to pravděpodobně způsobeno tím, že jsem při vytváření prvního žebříčku nezapočítal všechny alternativy na last.fm. Například pro skupinu Krucipüsk jsem poprvé započítal jenom poslechy umělce Krucipüsk. A když jsem teď při tvrobě druhýho žebříčku přidal i poslechy artista Krucipusk, vyletěli Krucipüsk poměrně vysoko :) Jinak je samozřejmě možný, že tam nějaký matematický chyby mam, kdyžtak se omlouvám :)
Pozn.2: Mnohem zajímavější by samozřejmě bylo podívat se na procentuální nárust. Na to jsem ale už fakt neměl nervy ani náladu :D Takže pokud to někoho zajímá, ať si to klidně najde a vypočítá.. A třeba o tom udělá novej journal, rád se podívám :))

Nejzajímavější změny:

- V českým žebříčku vystřídal Daniel Landa Jarka Nohavicu na prvním místě. Nohavica se pak dokonce propad na místo třetí, předběh ho Antonín Dvořák, nejrychlejc rostoucí československej umělec za polsedních 8 měsíců
- Největší propad zaznamenala Aneta Langerová. Má navíc jen 35 000 poslechů a z 27. místa se propadla na místo 40. Takže pád o 13 příček :P
- Naopak o největší počet pozic se posunula Ewa Farna. Z 46. místa (93 000 poslechů) se vyšplhala na 33. místo (201 000 poslechů). Takže postup o 13 příček :)

Pozn. Tohle všechno je bez záruky, možná se víc posunul nebo propad někdo jinej.. Ostatně.. To už si zjistěte sami, pokud vás to zajímá :)

IAMX ist mit seinem Album The Alternative nun schon gute zwei Jahre ununterbrochen auf Tour, innerhalb weniger Monate kommt Chris Corner, dessen Sneaker Pimps immer noch pausieren, so auch ein zweites Mal nach Frankfurt. Füllte er im Dezember 2006 Sven Väths durchgestylten Cocoon Club nicht einmal zur Hälfte, wird dieses Mal auf einen kleineren, dafür fast ausverkauften, Club zurückgegriffen: Das ranzige und scheinbar seit Jahren dem Verfall preisgegebene o25.

Der Einlass zieht sich gefühlte Stunden hin. Dicht gedrängt stehen die Menschen im kleinen Roten Salon und warten darauf, dass sich die Gittertüren zum Konzertraum öffnen. Drinnen wird derweil noch am Sound getüftelt. Endlich vor der Bühne, lässt auch die tschechische Vorband auf sich warten. Khoiba können dann auch nicht wirklich überzeugen, einige Wenige tanzen zwar, der Rest nippt gelangweilt am Bier. Sängerin Ema Brabcova mag große Ausstrahlung und eine umwerfend-filigrane Stimme haben, der Funke will nicht recht überspringen. Die atmosphärisch-melodramatischen Downtempo-Klangteppiche der Prager sind durchweg nicht schlecht, nur eben eher für den heimischen CD-Player gemacht als für die Bühne.
