Blue Lambency Downward is an enjoyable album in its own right. The big problem I have with it, though--and it's the same problem that prevents me from liking this new track--is I really fail to connect with any of the songs on the level I do with Choirs and Dowsing Anemone, which are absolutely moving at times. Kayo Dot I think has lost the "magic" that maudlin of the Well was cultivating, and which Toby had perfected on Choirs of the Eye. Toby seems to be on the downswing of sublimity; his music is becoming more down-to-earth with every album. Maybe it's his musical approach "maturing" or whatever.

It's called "Calonyction Girl". And that simply proves that the problem is not artistic direction, but consistency in quality. Calonyction Girl is an incredible song, even already as a raw live version. I'm intrigued to experience the whole of Coyote, what it has to offer.

There's another track circulating YouTube in a two-part format from the Yuko Sueta benefit which is also pretty similar in sound to "Whisper"...give it a go, I say.

If the rest of coyote is like whisper ineffable, than I may give up on the group all together. I loved Choirs, and really enjoyed Dowsing, but BLD was a huge disappointment, and the group just seems to be indulging more and more into the less melodic and IMO less enjoyable side of avant garde music. You could it a personal problem, but I need something more than aimless noise.

The lyrics on "Lambency" were really just..confusing for me. It didn't stop me from learning them and singing along, but I can't really muster any sort of "connection" to them. "Whisper Ineffable" I've loved from the moment I heard it. Being a huge "Dowsing" fan, it was pretty easy to enjoy.

Agreed on the lyrics department - Jason was a really great writer. Thankfully the music is still awesome; I thought Whisper Ineffable was really good, yet not the greatest. Probably there will be other tracks in the album which are cooler anyway.

I share your sentiments, but I've felt that way since BLD. 'my heart was like a crumpled piece of paper' is a fucking terrible lyric. Toby needs to have Jason writing his lyrics again. And how have you all missed the Astroglide in the Kitty Song vid?
