Set 19 2009, 16h50 por FutureLoveI was having one of those cleaning out days today....you know, where you open up boxes that have sat on top of wardrobes for the last two years and think "do I really need this in my life anymore?" I made the tough decision to get rid of all of my video cassettes, which made me feel sad as I've had some of them for nearly 20 years (e.g. Madonna's The Immaculate Collection). However, I've replaced most of them (where available) with DVDs, so they're off to the charity shop.
Anyway anyway anyway! One video that hasn't yet made its way to DVD is Kate Bush's The Whole Story. She's enjoyed a slight revival lately....I think it's the impending change of the season. I've listened to my top 3 Kate Bush albums a fair amount lately. FYI, these are Hounds of Love (of course), The Dreaming and Lionheart. I thought I'd do a bit of a tribute to her on here....a) because I've not written shit lately, b) I found an old email containing my top 10 Kate Bush songs and c) I wanted to have all of her videos linked in one place…
Jul 12 2008, 21h31 por Confessions87Right, here it is. I don't know why I keep making these silly, pointless lists of my fifty favourite songs by my favourite artists, because I'm in agony really trying to compile the goddamn list and thinking to myself, "Ooh! Should that song be higher than that song, or lower than that one? But then Song X is her defining song so surely it should be higher?!" ETC.
This list was very difficult to compile, because Kate's music is of such a high standard throughout her entire career. Personally, my favourite decade of her music, if I had to pick, would be the 1980s, and I'm sure many would agree. We got the first signs of real artistic genius materialising with Never for Ever, then the stunning The Dreaming, the obvious masterpiece Hounds of Love and the beautiful The Sensual World rounding out the decade in '89.
Here's my list...
50. Rocket's Tail
48. Pull Out the Pin
47. Mrs. Bartolozzi
46. Them Heavy People
45. Love and Anger
44. Under the Ivy
43. Get Out of My House

Interpol-Pace Is The Trick
This is my fav track from their new album...dark, dense and highly emotional and that's how I like them.
Najwa-I'll Wait For Us
I love her low and soft voice, almost a whisper. Perfect combination of accoustic guitar and electronics.
Duran Duran-Lonely in Your Nightmare
One of the best songs in Rio...It's not so dark as The Chauffeaur, but I love its simplicity. The nice guitars, one the coolest Taylor's bass lines and the always dreamy atmospheric synths by Mr Rhodes :) (I'm not a fan of them at all XDDDD)
I don't like their second album as much as their first one, but this song is... perfect, despite of the tittle :P
I love their last album!!!Their third album dissapointed me a bit, cause they changed from English to Spanish and it didn't work as well as before, but this last album is magical and this song is BEAUTIFUL.

Jul 20 2006, 7h58 por TheWhimWhamOccasionally, there's talk about a new compilation album for Kate Bush -- the last one was The Whole Story in 1986.
So what should the tracklist look like? Here's my proposal:
1. Wuthering Heights - the original version, since it's what was the hit and the '86 remix with re-recorded vocals is pretty dated as well, now
2. The Man With the Child in His Eyes
3. Strange Phenomena - flesh out the Kick Inside selections a bit
4. The Kick Inside - an essential album track
5. Hammer Horror - a minor hit that fared better in Australia than the UK
7. Them Heavy People (Live) - from the On Stage EP, reappearing on This Woman's Work, Volume 2
10. Army Dreamers
11. Violin - an album track from Never for Ever, appearing on both her '79 tour and Christmas special
12. December Will Be Magic Again - a single that eventually appeared on This Woman's Work, Volume 1
13. Sat in Your Lap
14. The Dreaming
15. Suspended in Gaffa - an album track from The Dreaming that was released as a single outside the UK
