Jan 12 2008, 18h03 por sonnycheeebah2007 was quite a rough year for me...
It has been one filled with increased cynicism over the current worldwide state of the record industry. Downloading has not just empowered musicians to act as their own bosses, but also customers to actively break free from the dictates of commercial radio. As more and more people download music, record/CD stores are gradually sliding into irrelevance (if not bankruptcy),
Coming from this particular corner of the Third World where there seems to be a limitless supply of talent, I sometimes wonder why the record stores in Metro Manila have been sorely lacking when it comes to a regular supply of new releases.
I don't want to be a hypocrite here, I've been an active downloader for quite some time, but this time it's practically out of necessity.
I eagerly await the local CD release of The Good, the Bad & the Queen's self-titled CD.
By the end of the year it hasn't yet hit local stores.
A month later, LCD Soundsystem release Sound Of Silver.
