Well the new kmfdm, some songs sound pretty much like ministry, but i'd say better. What i don't like about the ''new kmfdm'' is that they try too many different styles/sounds on albums, so the ''album'' experience isn't as great as just listening for one song from one album. Angst is great because the songs aren't so different from each other.

It did. I love Megalomaniac and other tracks like Stray Bullet/Mercy/Anarchy...but then there's a song like Torture, which despite how much I love Ogre, I just don't like the song.

I agree that their golden period was from Naive-XTORT, but I don't think XTORT started their decline. Symbols, though it has some songs I absolutely love, has a few misses for me. That said, I still enjoy their post 2000 works...the MDFMK album is stellar too.

the closest Rammstein comparison I can see is the track Move On for some reason, and its a thousand times better than anything the former has released. Other than that, it's a pretty vague connection other than that they are both German and are best known for playing a brand of industrial metal/rock. To me roughly around Naïve to Symbols has to be their golden period, with Nihil being the peak and XTORT the beginning of their decline as a studio group (though don't get me wrong they certainly have their moments such as Dogma). Everything afterwards I really don't care for very much, to the point new releases don't interest me at all. Would still be an awesome live act though.

KMFDM isn't 'pure' industrial, but what is aside from the few first pioneering acts? To me, KMFDM will always be industrial rock/metal. If anyone wants to dispute that...I'd honestly like to know what they consider industrial rock to really be.

what you see is what you get... not that bad though. imo rammstein is not very original/inventive at all. you clearly can hear their influences. at least kmfdm released some groundbreaking albums (even though long long time ago). anyways, neither kmfdm nor rammstein is REALLY industrial, but guess we have had this discussion often enough...
