June of 44 was an American rock band which was formed in 1994 from ex-members of Rodan, Lungfish, Codeine, Rex, The Crownhate Ruin and Hoover. Clearly influenced by Slint, the band’s music is often described as ‘math rock’. The band’s name refers to June Miller, wife of author Henry Miller, and the year author Anaïs Nin began writing about June in her diaries

Take Don Cab, Faraquet, Helmet, blend nicely on a "Shipping News" mode and sprinkle some Chevrueil toward the end .... serve chilled and you are guaranteed to please. I'm happy these guys finally made their way into my iTunes, since I've come to like almost all their work. They wound up with a tag of "Math Rock", which I would not dismiss but also place almost diametrically opposite a "Don Cab" or more conventional group. They remind me of Faraquet because it has the same complexity, talent and style--easily placed in this category, too--but really bring something quite different to the table.

I just bought "Engine takes to the water" on Vinyl. The last record which was missing in my library. I spent 30 Euro but it's worth every cent. All time classic. Awesome band.
