  • Don't blame me...blame the British public!

    Dez 11 2008, 8h57 por meako1973

As I make the slow progress of syncing all my music collection to LastFm, I feel I must make something clear...

I do not regularly listen to Bille or Julio Iglesias, they are part of my number ones collection and I only have them (amongst others mentioned in the last posting, and more that I dare not speak the name of) for completions sake.

Yes, as mentioned previously I have all the number ones from the early 50s until around March this year (sort of lost the passion for it all with the toss at the top spot in the charts this year - but will get back to it again soon and get up to date). It is fair to say the music buying public have a very diverse taste!

I plan to begin collecting the Number One Albums of all time next (and checking the list, I'm not doing too bad already). Some have called me obsessed with music, others just plain bonkers, but everyone has to have a hobby, and for those that don't I have enough hobbies to balance out the average.

Well, have to go, Smokey Robinson is telling me he don't care about anything else but TocarBeing With You

    Frank Sinatra - Duets

    1. What are you listening to right now?
Grizzly Bear, "Blackcurrant Jam". (so delicious)

    2. What song makes you sad?
Cat Power, "He Was a Friend of Mine"... doesn't help that Chan Marshall sobs during the live version.

    3. What is the most annoying song in the world?
TocarUmbrella, ella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh... sock me in the face, Rihanna. Kills me every time.

    4. Your all time favorite band?
Deciding is tough tortugas, but probably Sleater-Kinney.

    5. Your newly discovered band is?
Imma list three: Taken By Trees. Chet. The Himalayan Bear.

    6. Best female voice?
Chan Marshall does it for me. Bjork kicks major a$$ too.

    7. Best male voice?
    M. Ward's voice is hunky beyond belief.

    8. Music type you find yourself listening to most?
Mellow music, just-you-and-your-geetar music, pop music, danceable music, all music. The type you find living in my ipod.

    9. What do you listen to, to hype you up?
    Le Tigre. Bonde do Role.

    10. What do you listen to, to calm down?
Smog, Grizzly Bear, Cat Power, Ivana XL, Erin Tobey.

    11. Last gig/concert you went to?
Grand Buffet, MGMT, and of Montreal at Mandeville. Woo-hoo spandex, projectors, and light-up floors.

    12. Band you find yourself listening to the most right now?
    Grizzly Bear. Can't get enough.

    13. Most hated band?
    Nickelback. So gross.

    14. Song that makes you think?
Matty Pop Chart, "Oh Mercy Sakes"
'You gotta take some time and stop and wonder... Do you look like your dad!?!' I hear it, and then I stop and wonder and think, 'No, not at all.'

    15. Band that you think the world should love as much as you do?
Kimya Dawson. The world would be such a better place if everyone listened to Kimya.

    16. Coolest music video?
Any of the ones directed by Michel Gondry.

    17. Music video with the most babe watch?
Sisqo, "The Thong Song"!!! Duh. That's a no brainer. No. Just kidding. My real answer would be that one Backstreet Boys video where all of their shirts are unbuttoned while they are gyrating in the rain. Howie D. is a latin dreamboat.

    18. What "do you play/would you play" in the bedroom to spice things up?
Spice Girls, obviously. Spicing up your life, one wannabe at a time. Color Me Badd, "I Wanna Sex You Up"-it's sooo cheesily awesome.

    19. Can you play a musical instrument?
I can pee on the ano fairly well. I tinker with the guitar when I can.

    20. Ever been in a mosh pit?
My bones are much too fragile for that.

    21. Are you in a band?
No. But I am in a band of thieves, if that's what you were wondering. We do not play music. We steal it.

    22. If yes, what kind of music does your band play and what is your role in it?
No. and No. If I did have a band, we would play vegetable pop. I would play the carrot recorder.

    23. Ever dated a musician?
Define musician. If making silly beats on Fruity Loops or just knowing how to play something counts, then yes.

    24. If yes, what kind of music did he/she/they play/instrument/band?
    This/is/a/stupid/question.

    25. If no, would you consider?
Consider what. As I am hungry at the moment, I would consider eating a banana at the moment, how's that?

    26. Do you wish yourself that you were a musician?
I know how to play, I just lack the motivation, so no.

    27. Best female band you know of?
    Sleater-Kinney.

    28. Best male band you know of?
    Pavement!

    29. Last song that you heard on the radio?
    I don't remember. Something reggaeton!

    30. What do you think of Classical music?
It reminds me of my old piano teacher who smelled of urine. I'd rather be playing it than listening to it.

    31. What do you think of Country music?
There are some exceptions to the otherwise abysmal genre.

    32. What do you think of Death metal?
It terrifies me. Not death, just the metal.

    33. Last BIG band that you saw live?
...I saw Red Pony Clock at the Che. There are 10+ members, that's a big band. I thought the oboe-ist was going to fall off the stage, there wasn't enough room! That's what you meant by big, I'm assuming. (otherwise, N'sync in 7th grade. Huzzah, jealousy?!)

    34. Are you a groupie?
Do I look like a groupie to you?

    35. Do you listen to music in foreign languages?
Francoise Hardy, Bonde do Role, April March, Serge Gainsbourg.

    36. What famous musician would you like to fuck!?
I would like to be carnal with Lenny Kravitz, because I am shallow, and he is beautiful. I would also like to say "fuck you" to 50 Cent, while running away really fast in zig zags to avoid getting shot.

    37. Worst concert moment?
Every time my toes get stepped on, or I get a mouthful of someone else's hair. Other than that, it's all gravy.

    38. Funny Concert moment?
Getting hit on at Coachella during Peaches' set. She was a lesbian. I am not. I don't think it would've worked out, though she was very nice and friendly.

    39. Sad Concert moment?
Never sad, so I will tell you about the happiest. Group cinnamon roll hug with Kimya Dawson. Amazing. Fuzziest and warmest experience.

    40. Best local act you can think of?
    Grand Ole Party. Pinback.

A kazoo. A green one. With sparkles.

    On occasion.

    43. Do you watch music TV?
Music TV doesn't exist anymore. I watch Run's House.

    44. Do you follow the music charts, like the top 40?
All I know is Justin Timberlake is bringing sexy back.

    45. Have you met any famous musicians?
Oh yes, I have tea with Ginger Spice every Sunday.

    46. Are any of your friends/family/etc. musicians?
    DEAD FALLACY!!!

    47. Song that best describes your feelings right now?
My feelings are too confusing and muddled to be explained by any single song. Sorry. I have an affinity towards "The Knife" by Grizzly Bear at the moment. So maybe that's my answer.

    48. Song that describes your life?
Kimya Dawson, "TocarI Like Giants". 'we all become important when we realize our goal should be to figure out our role within the context of the whole...'

    49. Do you know the names of all the band members that you listen to?
    No. It's unnecessary.

    50. Does a musician’s physical attractiveness play a role in the music that you listen to?
Everyone is beautiful because they make beautiful music, not the other way around.

    51. What famous musician do you want to marry?
I would like to marry Lenny Kravitz, for the carnal reasons. And also Prince, because he is sexxxy and sure can gyrate.

    52. What do your parents listen to?
My dad likes Julio Iglesias and Lobo. He also likes The Cure, oddly enough. My mom likes Christmas music and oldies.

    53. What are you listening to right NOW?
    Beirut, "The Penalty"

    54. Do you wear band T-shirts?
    Yessir.

    55. What do you think of people who do?
Wear 'em with pride, my friends, with pride.

    56. What music sub-culture do you feel like you belong to?
    Dork.

    57. What song is stuck in your head right now?
Umbrella. ella. ella. eh. eh. I hate you Rihanna.

    58. Do you sing in the shower?
    Every time.

    69. If so, what? If not, why not?
I can be overheard singing anything from Ghost Mice to The Go-Go's, and everything in between.

    60. Would you rather marry a musician or be one yourself?
Why the choice? I guess I'd rather be one.

    61. What is in your walkman/discman right now?
Hm, at the time that I used a cd player, I listened to a lot of Destiny's Child. So that.

    62. How important is your partners taste in music to you?
taste in music < person overall. It's not that important, just a plus.

    63. Sex, Drugs and Rock n Roll, you dig?
When and where, and I'm there.

    64. Do you cook to music?
On the rare occasions that I cook, I enjoy the tuneZ to back it up.

    65. Do you sing in the toilet?
I don't sing in it. I sing on it.
  • A Journey Into the Boltonesque

    Set 10 2007, 9h45 por ssssixten

Reports from the Boltonesque coasts of España

Who would have thought that the Spanish held the Boltonesque so high? Once landing in Malaga they greeted the Boltonesque followers with big billboards saying "You Are Now Entering Julio Iglesiasland". Not to make empty threats, the cabdrivers made sure you had a long journey from the airport to your stay listening solely to Boltonesque artists. 100 km later, leaving the freeway with Julio still ringing in your ears we now entered further into the Boltonesque. "Marbella - land of Antonio Banderas". Antionio has his own plaza in Puerto Banus where everything happens. There is even an Irish Café with signed pictures of both Antonio Banderas and Michael Bolton!

Apart from having the obvious geographical signs of the Boltonesque, one can soon see the Boltonesque lifestyle with ones own eyes. As you walk through the ports avoiding to get hit by expensive ferraris the sounds of Joe Cocker suddenly appears from a piano bar. Beeing as Boltonesque as possible, it would be impossible not to enter and have a drink. Once served drinks that costs something close to a archive employees full salary you are forced to sit down and listen to the music to make your drinks worth the price. As the barpersonel eagerly serves popcorn to your drinks (at least the popcorns are for free) the music of Kenny Loggins hit the floor. Beeing Boltonesque by blood, multiple Spanish people jump up on the nonexisting dancefloor and shake their curly permed hairs to the music. You are now in extreme euphoria and must simply just enjoy the life.
But the Spanish is a people of excess. Enough is never enough unless it's more than Boltonesque. Entering the bar comes LaToya Jackson high on more drugs than could ever be afforded by your average archive personel. Beeing a Boltonesque dramaqueen she staggers over the floor dressed in nothing but a thong and a seetrough dress, smoking a cuban cigarr. The personal at this very expesive little Boltonesque establishment quickly clears a table for her and she is served a magnum bottle of champagne. After seeing all this you leave the bar fulfilled and knowing that of all the Boltonesque resorts, Spain must be the most Boltonesque within reach.

Following two weeks of Boltonesque research leaves you nothing but pleased. As you leave the appartment on your way to the cab, SVT Europe suddenly starts playing a fantastic combination of Roland Cedermark and Tommy Nilsson. Left with nothing but enlightment you enter another cab that quickly turns on his favourite singer - Julio Iglesias and you drive off towards the airport.

From Spain with Boltonesqueness, I am sure one could have ordered a Cerveza con Boltonesque at any bar.

Ele tinha alguns albúns do Chico Science & Nação Zumbi e todos do Mestre Ambrósio.
