There are so many lists around with countless lost classics, and while there's often something to it, they're invariably disappointing. I knew nothing about Farewell Alderbaran when I first came across it, and I was speechless. There's not a duff track on it: in fact, most are sublime. I hear something new every time I listen to it, and Henske has a voice that can bring you to tears.
Most remarkable of all is the sheer diversity of the songs. None sounds like another, and yet the LP is a fully cohesive trip. It echoes a raft of different influences, and yet sounds nothing like any of them. It;s one of a handful of albums of which I'd say that I'm jealous of anyone getting to hear it for the first time.
You need to get hold of this.
