  • Juan Luis Guerra - medicine for my soul

    Out 30 2007, 18h00 por MiGuE77

Juan Luis Guerra - medicine for my soul - La Llave de Mi Corazón

    Yeah yeah yeah yeah
I was listening to a radiostation last night
A shrink, Dr. Luis, was giving counsel on the line

    I dialed 305 594 1185
    (three o' five, five ninety-four eleven eighty-five)
Hey doc, I'm calling about a latin girl I met on a web site

She tastes to me like a honeycomb
y tiene la llave de mi corazón

    Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah

I'm from Louisiana, she's from San Pedro de Macoris,
you know the land of baseball players,
    where Sammy Sosa lives

She likes to drink papaya juice and paint caribbean trees
Oh, we don't have too much in common
but love is blind as you can see

She tastes to me like a honeycomb
sweet to my heart, medicine for my soul

Girl I want to feel your heart
and hope you love me too

You know I can't stop loving you, babe
    I said mambo

    Love me, yeah
    Love me, yeah

    Establish your emotions
make a point, you're on the air

Should I go and visit her
    should I learn spanish words
should I cry, should I face
    some political concerns

Should I join a social club
    Should I peel a coconut
    movin' in, movin' on,
    merengue bachata y son, now

She tastes to me like a honeycomb
y tiene la llave de mi corazón

    Dance !
    Dance !
    yeah yeah yeah yeah
    Dance !

Should I get down on my knees
should I dance a latin beat
Should I laugh should I get
    a romantic membership

Should I play my conga drums
should I sing 'La Vie en Rose'
    Moving in, moving on
    merengue, bachata y son, now

She tastes to me like a honeycomb
y tiene la llave de mi corazón

Girl I want to feel your heart
and hope you love me too

You know I can't stop loving you, babe

She tastes to me like a honeycomb
y tiene la llave de mi corazón

You're so sweet, to me, yeah
    You're so sweet
You're so sweet, to me, baby
You're so sweet, to me, baby
    You're so sweet
    yeah yeah yeah

She tastes to me like a honeycomb
y tiene la llave de mi corazón

    Sweet to my heart
    ehh baby now
    Sweet to my heart
    Sweet to my heart
    Sweet to my heart
    yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
    Sweet to my heart
    yeah baby

She tastes to me like a honeycomb
tu tienes la llave de mi corazón

  • Curious?

    Mar 9 2007, 3h35 por arkandria

Funny question nowadays. If you are curious about the mix of artists in my charts it can be explained quite easy by looking at the files in my computer.

Take a look at my directories:

    /MUSIC/
.../a capella/ #Here you find King's Singers, Rockapella, Vocal Sampling, and others. Many of them are very badly tagged.
.../electronic/ #Moby, Lounge Classics (A Decade Of Lounge Chill Out) and other compilations. Many of them i find VERY interesting, as Exploration, but, as they are part of a compilation, NEVER will be high on a player on RANDOM MODE.
.../Spanish/ #Many, many artists with just a few songs each one. This is the most selected file of them all. Exceptions: El Rock de Mi Pueblo, Buena Vista Social Club, Juan Luis Guerra, from whom i have a large selection of greatest hits. Any of the other songs are truly the best of the best for me. Wont be high in the charts also.
.../English/ #So many! here we have mainly Queen, U2, KT Tunstall, and sooo many others. Again, just a song or two from each artist.
.../Instrumental/ #mainly Bond, but it seems they are close from disappearing from the list (getting tired).
.../Soundtracks/ #Created for The Seatbelts and their extremely fabulous COWBOY BEBOP OST. Great work, Yoko Kanno!. Here we can add Kill Bill (almost leaving) and a selection (not filtered yet, and horribly tagged) of songs from popular movies. There are some INCREDIBLE chill out versions out here.

    Hope it helps... anyways.

  • Language Makes a Difference

    Set 26 2006, 14h12 por rumbero2004

I was listening to Late Junction last night and heard Seu Jorge singing an "unplugged" version of TocarLife On Mars? (TocarLife On Mars?). If it had been in English, I would have thought: oh no, a simple cover version of Bowie. Because it was in Portuguese, I really listened to it and followed Seu Jorge's phrasing. Similaraly, Elegia, a version of poem by John Donne which alludes to conquering America, is made all the more fascinating for being sung seductively by a Brazilian in Portuguese.

Conversely, when Latin American artists sing in English, it breaks the spell. For example, I like Juan Luis Guerra and find the lyrics to songs such as Carta de amor to be really charming and witty. July 19th, on the other hand, is in English and I find it totally crass. And Fernanda Porto is not a bad album until she starts singing in English.

When I look at the tracks being listened to by the Latin Americans on Last.fm, I see they are full of British and US bands and wonder if the same applies to them. English is as interesting and exotic to them as Spanish and Portuguese is to me.

    TocarVolver Original:Carlos Gardel

Amor en vano Original: TocarLove In Vain

TocarLa Flor De La Canela Original:Chabuca Granda

TocarBurbujas De Amor Original:Juan Luis Guerra
