"Neil Schon was trying to be nice and Steve was being an arrogant asshole." steve has a RIGHT to be an asshole to both neil and jonathan - they were supposed to be his bandmates, his friends, and they basically told him to pick between the band and his health. it's really no wonder steve doesn't want anything to do with them, and the only reason i ever say journey > unjourney is because it's TRUE. all they do nowadays is replace steve with soundalikes, so it's clear they know what they had and lost, and will never get back. if they "just wanted to make music", they should have left the name journey behind and went with something else, because journey is and always will be with steve perry as the front man. he made them.

I saw this new line up of the Journey at the Sweden Rock Festival and I really have to say that their new singer is simply like a "copy and paiste" of Steve Perry. Meaning he does his part perfectly. And I really enjoyed seeing them live for a first time. So go on guys and enjoy what you're doing.

Not really sure why you took what I said so personal, but I have to say that I run into so many "Perry is god" types and they are all 40+ (my age). All they do is talk about how they hate Journey and how Steve Perry was Journey.... I agree that Journey is not the same without Perry, because he was one of a kind. I actually met the group in Orlando in 1983 and Steve was a super nice guy. Neil was the arrogant one. It's not the 80's, and I can't fault them for trying to continue when Perry wants no part of it.. I'm not sure why you are annoyed by them trying to replace him. Like any other job in the world you try to find someone who fits the bill. They would not be able to play the old songs without someone who sounds somewhat like Steve because the sound is so unique. Arnel doesn't sound like Steve at all when he' sings the new stuff. Unlike the previous guy he does have his own sound.

Hey, man. Chiiiill. For one, I love Journey. I love Steve Perry. They both annoy the crap out of me for being immature brats that have less wisdom than a two year old. But you know what's really annoying about Journey? They keep trying to blatantly replace him, and none of them even come close. As for Steve Perry, he's way self-righteous. I wish Journey all the success in the world, as I do with Steve's next record, but I hope to God they can grow the hell up, because Journey never was and never will be the same without Mr. Perry.
