John Mayer in 2008 is him actually realising his talent. His First couple of albums were simplistic 3-4 chord pop songs. (not to say thats bad - I just prefer the new, more complex melodies)

1) John Mayer in 2001 is more fun to listen to than John Mayer in 2008. 2) John Mayer live is better than John Mayer in studio. 3) John Mayer's singles are in no way a representation of him as an artist. John Mayer is a brilliant musician, and it's unfortunate he isn't recognized for it (so much as he is for cheap puns like, "No, no, YOUR body is a wonderland").
