One of the artists I discovered in the past year is a folk singer-songwriter named Joe Purdy. I, like many other fans, learned of his music through the popular Kia commercial in which Purdy's "Can't Get it Right Today" is played in the background. It was as popular as any iPod commercial ditty. I got the song and the wonderful thing about his music is that all his albums (all 8 of them) are available online on his website for free steaming. He's his own record label and has managed to become a relatively popular singer online. His music also appeared on several popular television shows, such as Lost and Grey's Anatomy. Similar to M. Ward, Brett Dennen and Ray LaMontagne.

Btw, my favorite songs are "Sinking Low", "San Jose", "Miss Me", "The City", "Sad Clown".

I like doing this every 3 months or so, even if no one reads this. I like seeing how my music taste changes over time. Over the past few months, I have been pretty mellow, but for some reason, my extrovert has been coming out as well. The extrovert side seemed to come about at the same time as I was introduced to this band called Fiction Family. Fiction Family is a side project for Jon Foreman of Switchfoot and Sean Watkins of Nickel Creek. They have this way diverse sound that goes from pop to country and experimental to folk. Although they didn't break into the Top 15 yet, I am sure they will as they are a constant in my music rotation these days.

Okay, so that was much more movement than I thought. Chris Thile and Hillsong both broke into the Top 15 for the first time, as did Iron & Wine, which has always been just outside. And dropping out were Kelly Clarkson, Wilco and Vampire Weekend. But, summer is coming up and that means more VW. Also, I picked up a new Wilco album and still haven't got around to it, because of Fiction Family. That's all from this little time capsule of my music.
