When you argue wether a song is the weakest on an album, you don't say oh well it's my favorite/secondfavorite!!!, you make points. It's like saying Cat Power is the best band ever because she's my favorite artist. That being said, Cat Power is a good artist, and this is a good song off of a good album. Her voice melds with harps and violins like no other voice I've ever heard.

really? weakest? wow, it's definitely one of my faves off of Ys, but I also think the whole thing is a masterpiece.

Like you said, Ursula actually means small female bear, so her name is a description. Still, it's a nice poetic image, to see her transcend her mortal body and become the stars. Joanna Newsom is by far the best musical storyteller I've ever heard, bar none.

Ehm...If i may be so bold, too: Yes, I think so too, and I guess that it is pretty obvious. At this point, though, I am not sure whether she killed herself or not. ...'cause she would not drown... and so on. I find the constellation of stars-theory interesting, though one should note that: Ursula is a pretty obvious name for a bear, for an example, the Ursa in Ursa Major means bear.

If I may be so bold, I think this song is about a woman being manipulated by her partner. Ursula was slave to a man who made her dance, and now her lover makes her dance. She feels trapped and yet obliged to continue dancing. Eventually she's so demoralised, she kills herself to be free. What do you think?

Oh yes, she, I knew that, I was just speaking generally. Either way, all are good theories. That one Gizoku thought of is brilliant.

I think she (the bear) becomes a constellation at the end (the Ursa Major, also known as 'the great bear', the name is also strikingly similar to Ursala's). if you could hold up her threadbare coat to the light where it's worn translucent in places you'd see spots where almost every night of the year Bear had been mending suspending that baseness That kinda gives me the same impression too.

I don't think she kills herself... or at least I don't think that's the only way to hear it. It's a big transformation of some kind, not necessarily death. And the last line hints that she'll either get her revenge or just finally be as she's supposed to be.
