Ik begon 2008 met een belofte: ik wil elke week een nieuwe cd ontdekken. Dit hield ik een goeie 2 maand vol. Daarna mocht ik blij zijn met 1 nieuwe cd op een maand. Ik hield het allemaal keurig bij. Maar zo ontdekte ik "oude" cd's en die telden dan weer niet mee. *zucht* Domme beloftes. Dit jaar heb ik weer dezelfde belofte aan mezelf voorgesteld. Elk jaar dezelfde zever, welkom in de wereld!

De meest gespeelde artiesten van 2008:
1. Ayreon (842 plays)
Ayreon bracht in het voorjaar van 2008 de meesterlijke plaat 01011001 uit. Hier heb ik weken/maanden genot van gehad! Voor je de genialiteit van dit album inzag, moest je wel wat moeite doen. 3 luisterbeurten en je bent volledig verkocht! Het nummer Comatose brengt je naar een andere wereld....
2. Apocalyptica (318 plays)
Het verwondert me enorm dat deze band zo hoog genoteerd staat aangezien ze geen nieuw album hebben uitgebracht in 2008. Ik ben een beetje mijn interesse verloren nadat ze er een gewoonte van hebben gemaakt om drums en zanger(es)s(sen) te gebruiken. Back tp roots, aub!
3. Avantasia (275 plays)
The "scarecrow" werd op dezelfde dag uitgebracht als 01011001. Het moet geen toeval zijn geweest, wat beiden platen behoren tot de top van 2008! Ik was euforisch dat ik al 2 geniale platen had ontdekt, en het jaar was nog maar pas begonnen. Het album, meer poppie-achtig dan we gewend waren, bracht veel "lovers" en "haters" met zich mee. Voor mij was het liefde op het eerste gezicht.
4. Jon Oliva's Pain (208 plays):
In maart 2008 bracht JOP een nieuw album uit: Global Warning genaamd. Mijn geluk kon niet op toen ik hem een tijd daarna in levende lijve mocht aanschouwen. Het album stelde me wel enigszins teleur...
5. Les Fragments de la Nuit (187 plays):
Dit is wel DE ontdekking van het jaar voor mij. Wat heb ik heerlijk zitten wegdromen met nummers als "Final de blanche" en "entre ciel et fer". Dit is heerlijke klassieke muziek om U tegen te zeggen. Misschien een aanrader?
6. Amy Macdonald (186 plays):
Het is niet alleen metal dat ik in 2008 heb beluisterd. De pop artieste Amy leverde een schitterend album af.
7. Blind Guardian (155 plays):
Hun laatste realse sinds 2006 ("a twist in the myth" was wel de allergrootste teleurstelling dat jaar, maar dat heeft me niet verhinderd om hun oude nummer te blijven spelen. Dit jaar op graspop, spannend!
8. Saint Deamon (151 plays):
Deze groep bracht in 2008 hun eerste album uit wat van mij een 78% kreeg. Ik heb het veel beluisterd, maar waar is mijn interesse gebleven?
9. Marco Borsato ( 146 plays):
Ik heb altijd van Marco Borsato gehouden en was dus ontzettend benieuwd naar zijn nieuwe plaat. "Wit licht" is een geweldige cd dat me heel wat traantjes heeft bezorgd.
10. Nightwish (138 plays):
In 2007 zorgde deze band voor een spektakel door Tarja uit te band te kicken en te laten vervangen door de 'niet-zo-toonvaste-Anette-live". De groep verloor heel wat fans, maar vond vrij snel een nieuw publiek. Ik heb er geen drama van gemaakt, ik vind het laatste album best te pruimen! Tarja, wie?]

Heb ik ze nu in 2006,2007 of 2008 ontdekt? Ik weet het niet meer, maar hou ze in de gaten! Dit nummer klinkt ZO ontzettend goed. De stem van de man is perfect, waarom duurt het zo lang voor ze bekend raken? Categorie? Rock/pop achtig.

3. The Scorpions - Holiday (accoustic)
Toen ik dit nummer in de winter van 2008 ontdekte kreeg ik een zomergevoel. Eens je dit nummer hebt gehoord, wil je het origineel niet meer horen. Dit is shake van het begin tot op het einde van het nummer.
4. Kenny Logins - Danger zone
Dit nummer moet je héél luid zetten in je auto. Nostalgie, mag het?
5. Lykke Li - I'm good i'm gone
6. Alice Cooper - I'm eighteen
7. Anouk - might as well
De vrouw met ballen bracht ook een cd uit, maar dit nummer sprak er direct uit. De rest mag je gewoon skippen.
8. Dream Evil - my number one (cover)
Dit is de beste cover ooit. Het origineel van een zekere Helena papparizzi. Zjesus. Van dit nummer word je vrolijk.
9. Turisas - a portage to the unknown
10. Chris Daughtry - It's not over
En de top 3 van 2008:
1. Evergrey - When the walls go down
Dit nummer zorgt voor een ontzettend geweldig gevoel. Je ogen sluiten en gewoon genieten van de climax en de ontlading. Damn it. Dit nummer is gewoon super geniaal!
2. Les Fragments de la Nuit – Entre ciel et fer
Dit nummer duurt maar 2'42" maar moet daarom niet onderdoen van de grote artiesten. Het nummer bevat een geweldige spanning. Ogen sluiten en even inbeelden dat je de violist en/of cellist bent.
3. Ayreon – Comatose
Veel tekst komt er in dit nummer niet voor. Muzikaal gebeurt er ook niet veel, maar dat maakt het nummer zo speciaal. Ik kan best snappen dat mensen hiervan de schoonheid niet zien, maar doe een beetje moeite, wil je?

I'm interested in how people get into music, film, TV, theatre, books, etc. Often (especially if it's obscure) there is a story behind it, or a memory, or a string of other things.

For example, lately I've been listening to Rip Rig & Panic a lot (one of Neneh Cherry's pre-solo groups). I first heard them in an episode of "The Young Ones"; it was one of the two performances of the show that I really dug (the other being Amazulu).
...I got into "The Young Ones" as a natural progression in my path towards British comedy dorkdom- I'd been hearing about the show for a long-ass time until finally my good friend [info]littlemidget lent me (for what turned into a lot of years) the box-set.
...I got into British comedy first through "Absolutely Fabulous" (Jennifer Saunders). When I got cable in 1998, I watched Comedy Central constantly, that was when the channel aired three episodes of "AbFab" every Saturday (or was it Sunday?) from 4-6pm.
...How I got into comedy... that I'll have to think about.
