  • Thrashcore

    Jun 7 2007, 8h05 por dr_gore

  • 2007, go!

    Jan 3 2007, 3h25 por exliontamer

Okay, hopefully 2007 will work out a lot better for me musically than 2006 did. Don't get me wrong, 2006 was okay, it saw the release of the long-awaited HvsD EP, but since I've been in Japan I've been slacking. I have all kinds of songs and music written, I just need to record it all. And I want to start like 3 bands.

Bands from Japan that you need to check out:

Gauze - Probably the best thrash band in the world.
Jellyroll Rockheads - The first reason I used "probably" in the preceeding line.
MIND OF ASIAN - The second reason I used "probably."
The Futures - Insane, fast, loud.

  • waomg! Mainstream test!

    Abr 20 2006, 8h05 por SweetWilly

More trendiness. This one seems fun. Take your top 10 artists, tally the sum of their listeners, and divide that number by 10, to get the mainstream rating.

    1. Dystopia - 935
    2. Psycroptic - 2,049
    3. melt banana - 16,495
    4. Spazz - 2,006
    5. Suffocation - 4,592
    6. Cryptopsy - 13,981
    7. Fuck...I'm Dead - 4,804
    8. The Lord Weird Slough Feg - 786
    9. !T.O.O.H.! - 426
    10. Jellyroll Rockheads - 264

    Mainstream rating: 4,633.8

Take the rating, and divide it by last.fm's top artist's number of listeners to get your percentage:

    Mainstream percentage rating: 0.014296

Melt Banana is the most popular artist in my top 10? Sad.

  • My Music, For the Week (Part Dos)

    Abr 9 2006, 20h43 por psynapse_zero

So I did this last week, got a few comments, made me feel pretty cool. Figured, why not do it again? After going on a semi-indie binge last week, this week I went more thrash/emo. Good stuff. And now, my list!

    1 Cap'n Jazz 71

I really really really really like Cap'n Jazz. I don't know why. The first time I listened to Cap'n Jazz at a friend's house, all I could say was, "What the hell is this crap?" But then I listened some more, and now I love them.

    2 Bones Brigade 69

Bones Brigade, there are not enough adjectives for how hard you thrash. There just aren't.

    3 Drive Like Jehu 58

Another incredible band. I can't believe I waited so long to pick anything up by them, but I'm so glad I did. I love Hot Snakes and Rocket from the Crypt, so liking Drive Like Jehu just seems natural. But maybe someone here can tell me....what's up with that name?

    4 Oktober Skyline 48

It's a shame they have to go so early, because they were a really talented bunch of guys.

    5 Gogol Bordello 42

Underdog world strike! Nothing is better to blast in the car than Gogol Bordello. Trying playing 60 Revolutions at full blast with all windows open in a crowded place, and see how many looks you get. My record is 17. Also, is there a single band out there that sounds like them? I need more gypsy punk.

    6 Capitalist Casualties 40

These guys are, for some reason, really easy to get into. A lot of people I know don't like powerviolence because the songs are so short and sound the same, but I like it that way. They all sort of blend together into something that just, to me, sounds cool as hell.

    7 Jellyroll Rockhead 38

I only just realized when I downloaded these guys, for some reason the person forgot the end. Really named Jellyroll Rockheads. But the difference in the name changes nothing about rocking these guys are.

    8 Folly 36

One of my first live shows ever. A friend of mine broke his collarbone when he went stagdiving at this show, and I had to drive his mom's minivan home while he sat next to me trying to not cry. The show kicked as too. Crazy.

    8 Dead Kennedys 36

Mad respect for Jello. A good band that's just really easy for me to listen to.

    10 Against Me! 29

Sucks they had to sell out, but it doesn't stop VV/Acoustic EP/Crime/RAR/TDBTB from being excellent, heartfelt albums of one man trying to fight against the machine. Too bad they, like so many other bands, turned into exactly what they said they were fighting again.

And now, next week! Well I don't know what next week will hold. We shall see in "My Music, For the Week (Part 3)," next week! So see you then!
