    Januar

    Shiml - Im Alleingang
    Releasedate: 30.01.2009

Sehr schoener Start ins neue Jahr.
    Gastauftritte: Casper, Tua, Montana Max

    April

    Selfmade Records - Chronik II
    Releasedate: 17.04.2009

Absolutes No-Go.
Gastauftritte: Olli Banjo, Farid Bang, Edo Maajka, Sundiego, Montana Max, Marteria
    Favoriten:
Casper, Favorite & Kollegah - Mittelfinger hoch
Casper – Elefant (Ich bleib stehen)
    Favorite - Superman
Casper & Favorite – 2x mehr wie Du
    Favorite - Lebenswerk
    Casper - Vatertag
Casper feat. Marteria - Rock 'n' Roll

    Mai

    Laith Al-Deen - session
    Releasedate: 22.05.2009

Gecovert wurden u.a.: Sting, Bruce Springsteen, Nationalgalerie, Frank Sinatra
    Favoriten:
    I'm On Fire, Der Sturm

    Juli

    K.I.Z. - Sexismus Gegen Rechts
    Releasedate: 10.07.2009

    Gastauftritte: Sido
    Favoriten:
Ringelpiez mit Anscheißen, Ohrfeige, Preisschild, Selbstjustiz & Klopapier

    August

    Colbie Caillat - Breakthrough
    Releasedate: 25.08.2009

Rein vom Sound her.
    Gastauftritte: Jason Reeves, Jason Mraz
    Favoriten:
Begin Again, Droplets (feat. Jason Reeves), I Never Told You, Fearless, Break Through, What I Wanted To Say

    September

Prinz Pi - Teenage Mutant Horror Show 2
    Releasedate: 04.09.2009

Mangelhaft sind lediglich Intro/Outro & Die grosse Genozid Show (feat. Basstard). Absolute No-Go's und muessen geskippt werden.
    Gastauftritte: E-Rich, Basstard, Jonarama, Jamal
    Hervorzuheben sind:
Illuminati - Der Beat ist grandios.
    Minenfeld - Exzellente Thematik.
    Der Regenmacher - Exzellente Thematik²
333SDK - Satans dicke Kinder (feat. Jonarama) - Ich kanns gar nicht erwarten..

    Oktober

    Peter Bradley Adams - Traces
    Releasedate: 20.10.2009

“The good writer, the great writer, has what I have called the three S's: the power to see, to sense, and to say. That is, he is perceptive, he is feeling, and he has the power to express in language what he observes and reacts to.”

He's done it again!

  • Songs I'm Currently Obsessed With, Plus A Few All-Time Favorites

    Mai 20 2008, 20h21 por m2hnj

I'm notorious for my dubious taste in music so feel free to ignore what I have to say.

For me, a great song is about more than a catchy tune or chorus, it's about lyrics that I can relate to. Most songs I like are either about love, relationships ending, or self-loathing. Those seem to be a theme in my life.

These are a few songs that I've been playing over and over lately:

TocarI Wish The Best For You by Emerson Hart - The former Tonic front man put out a solo album late last year. I really like this song. For me, it's about getting over someone, which I've had to do a couple times.

TocarThe Truth, TocarDon't Say A Word, TocarFall Back Into Me, and TocarSilver by David Cook - I first became aware of David because of American Idol. (I'm a fantard, I admit it.) These songs are from his pre-Idol album that he put out on his own. He writes really great, deep lyrics.

TocarGotta Have You, TocarWorld Spins Madly On, and TocarTake It From Me by The Weepies - The Weepies are a recent find for me, and as I listen to them I find myself wondering why I didn't find them sooner. I'm head over heels for Gotta Have You. Such a sweet song.

TocarSky by Joshua Radin (feat. Ingrid Michaelson) - I've been a big fan of Joshua for a few years now, and I was excited to learn that he has a few new songs out. I love that he collaborated with Ingrid Michaelson on this one.

TocarStarting Now and TocarDie Alone by Ingrid Michaelson - I love, love, LOVE Ingrid Michaelson. One of my very favorite lyrics comes from Die Alone:

I'm just a stranger, even to myself.
A re-arranger of the proverbial bookshelf.

Reaching by Jason Reeves - I'd never heard of this guy until a few days ago. He sounds like a male Colbie Caillat, which isn't surprising considering he's a good friend of hers.

TocarLucky and I Love Myself Today by Bif Naked - This song is my new personal anthem. After years of hating myself, I've decided to start loving myself. The chorus says it all:

    I love myself today
    Not like yesterday
    I'm cool, I'm calm
    I'm gonna be okay!

TocarPork And Beans by Weezer - WEEZER HAS A NEW ALBUM COMING OUT IN JUNE!! That thrills me! This song is off of it and I love it. Like the Bif Naked song, this one has also become a personal anthem for me.

TocarCome On Get Higher by Matt Nathanson - I really love the first verse of this song:

I miss the sound of your voice
I miss the rush of your skin
I miss the still of the silence
as you breathe out and I breathe in.

    I love this verse too:

I miss the sound of your voice
the loudest thing in my head
    and I ache to remember
all the violent, sweet, perfect words that you said.

TocarAll Fall Down by OneRepublic - We all fall down at some point in our lives. When you fall, I'll be there to help you up.

Falling Slowly by Glen Hansard And Markéta Irglová from the film Once - I absolutely love this song and the film it came from. I tear up every time I listen to this song.

Mushaboom by Feist - I get a warm, fuzzy feeling from this song. It's just too damn sweet.

TocarChampagne High by Sister Hazel - This has been one of my very favorite songs for several years now. The line Where will I be when I stop wondering why? is one I can really relate to.

TocarUnemployed Boyfriend by Everclear - This is such a fun song. I especially love the line:

Hey you can be with me
Yeah cause I just might be the one
Who will treat you like you're perfect
Who will always make you come

Okay, it's a gorgeous day here in KC (75F and sunny!), so I'm going to go listen to my obsessions outside! Hopefully after reading this, you'll find one or two songs that you enjoy as much as I do.

Sat 19 Apr – Anberlin, Colbie Caillat, Jason Reeves

So, when I heard that Anberlin was playing with Colbie Caillat I was a tad confused, but I figured it couldn't be so horrible, as long as it meant being able to see Anberlin. After all, I'm pretty much willing to do anything to see them since they're one of my absolute favorite bands.

My friends and I live in Columbia, South Carolina and the event was at Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina...right at 3 hours worth of driving. That was definitely fun. If the anticipation wasn't enough, imagine a 3 hour drive. But then again, it's worth it for Anberlin.

I just have to express one thing--Campbell University is probably the worst DIY-Venue I have ever been to in my entire life. It was whoppingly unorganized not to mention they didn't have much of any idea what they were doing. The event was outside in what the University called Saylor Park. The doors were opening at 5, and the show would start at 5:30. Like usual we got there early around 4, we were prepared for a wait. A wait in the line wasn't so bad, even the sprinkling of rain wasn't so bad, especially since my friends and I had come prepared with umbrellas and hoods, luckily only pummeled by a mere drizzle. But, alas, even then, we still did not enter the park area until well after 6 because they "wanted to make sure it didn't rain", even though after it drizzled, the sun was out and there were no sign of dark clouds or anything. I found it a bit ridiculous. They also wouldn't allow cameras...and they SEARCHED BAGS to make sure no one had them. Maybe I'm missing something, but I haven't been to a show/concert where they actually did that.

As for the show, probably one of the most unenjoyable, up until Anberlin. They had a barricade that was at least 2 feet away from the stage. (I despise barricades purely because most of the venues I attend don't have a barricade, or if they do, it's not ridiculously far away from the stage. Anyway, because Colbie Caillat is an absolute diva, she fucked with the entire sound system because she wanted to play first so she could hightail it out of there the moment she stepped off the stage. Apparently the college had a room for her with towels embroidered with her initials and a smorgasborg of food, to which she refused the room, towels, and all senses of considerability and got the food delivered to her bus. Awesome! Her set wasn't enjoyable to any extent, and not just because her distracting miniskirt (more like a strip of fabric) that flashed her vagina as she continually tapped her feet. I had listened to her album before the show, I gave it a try. It wasn't terrible, just not exactly my type of music, and the show did not shed any light on that opinion. She also played many Bob Marley covers...proceeding to play a set that felt like an hour long. I swear, she must have played the entire album.

As for Jason Reeves, he wasn't awful, just despite the fact that he took the majority of his allotted time for his set to tune the one drumset and bass guitar, and which this same bassist also played keyboard at the same time...well, kudos for the talent of dual instruments played by the same person, but honestly, you're playing with Colbie Caillat. You've got to have a bit of cash. Consider hiring a keyboardist. I had listened to him before the show and I actually quite enjoy the track Just Friends, but I did not enjoy the blinding light show from the spotlights, and I didn't enjoy how absolutely sleep inducing the rest of his set was.

Next, we had an unexpected band who apparently won the Battle of the Bands at Campbell. At first I was a little peeved, but I didn't mind too much when I realized that they weren't as shitty as the rest of the evening's monotony. They also didn't take years to set up, which further proves that Colbie Caillat is an absolute diva. I believe they were called A Clear Story. They had a really great sound and I definitely enjoyed their set, probably not as much as I could if I wasn't anticipating Anberlin's set so much. The lead vocalist uncannily reminded me of Andrew McMahon, Jack's Mannequin days.

Finally, Anberlin. My entire evening went from an awful feeling of extreme boredom to complete happiness as soon as I recognized the usual roadies sound checking. Their set blew me away as usual. Despite the fact that I could pretty much predict their set list, like my friends could, too, I enjoyed it all the same. I think I had a LITTLE bit of a hard time hearing Stephen at some points, but it wasn't difficult enough to not enjoy it. Basically their set completely blew me away as usual and got even better, like they always do. You'd expect after four times of seeing a band they maybe wouldn't impress you anymore, but they definitely did. I remember all the songs they played, just not in the order they played them. So, here we go...

    TocarReady Fuels
    TocarGodspeed
    TocarA Whisper & A Clamor
    TocarHello Alone
    Dismantle. Repair
    TocarNever Take Friendship Personal
    TocarPaperthin Hymn
    TocarA Day Late
    TocarThe Feel Good Drag
    TocarDance, Dance, Christa Paffgen

Unfortunately, the set had to end early because of a "curfew" since it was at the University. And even though they had sound checked the acoustics, they didn't play TocarThe Unwinding Cable Car. Either way, as shitty as the first few miserable hours of this show were, it was very much well worth it. Once again, Anberlin completely blew me away . I don't really know why I wrote this, but hey, whatever. Maybe it will be read!

Sat 19 Apr – Anberlin, Colbie Caillat, Jason Reeves

please allow me to begin by saying that campbell university need not ever host another event as long as they may exist. they are completely unorganized and incompetent with more examples than i can bother to mention. the delays, the lineup, the "rules", the barrier, the skiving security dicks who like to steal memorabilia off the stage like LITTLE SNEAKY WORMS. yes, fat ass blonde security bitch, i'm talking about you.

colbie caillat. apparently fucking up the entire sound system by demanding to play first so she could haul ass on her big ass tour bus the second she set down her microphone. i also enjoyed looking up her vag for an hour, literally, due to her 1 1/2 inch long skirt. i couldn't tell the difference in a single song she played, and in retrospect am quite glad she played first so the freaktards who say:

Q: So what does Anberlin sound like? What do they play?
A: Well they're touring with Colbie so they must sound like that.

were no longer in my personal "bubbly" (no pun intended ~*CoLbiiE~*). a tough hour to live through all in all.

jason reeves. aka an entire performance length waiting for the bitch to set up. he probably took so long because of diva caillat and her sound system destruction, but whatever. he was generic as hell too, and no, i was not able to tell any of his songs apart.

    "thank you, sky"
"we have a lovely clear patch right above us"

then a clear story or something. they were a breath of fresh air to say the least after the hours of ridiculous bullshit.

    ANEBRBELRBERLLINNINININEABABAMABELRMEBRMELBRINIIIIINnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnyum

no words can describe. on a 1 to 10 scale in comparison with colbie caillat, she would probably be -9034832450-34572347523452345023456902383489gh02348g29039023hgft9238hf2890fh92384fh290g28934t89023ty2ty892ty8928t22ty892 while anberlin is nearer than not to the 10. this was my fourth time seeing them and every time it gets just a little bit better. i predicted basically every single song that they would play with the exception of the surprising readyfuels, they really need to start diversifying their setlist a little.

anyways, it was worth a three hour drive. nobody will even read this lol.

    Anberlin
    Colbie Caillat

    Set 30 2007, 2h17 por apptfire

Apparently I have been missing out on the older mail front in the music scene. Sure, I went on a Graham Colton downloading binge in April. Sure I bought the Howie Day CD two years ago, but those guys in my mind we're younger and just had pretty songs. Slower than I usually like it, but hey. Well, the 30-year-old men (or probably wrong, I judge by name as well. I'm sorry, I'm a cover-judger!) I wrote off without a second thought are taken up my "airwaves" lately! I downloaded a lot of Jason Reeves last night, along with some more Josh Kelly/Kelley and am liking what I've heard. But who's really pulling at my heart strings and shakin me up is Matt Wertz. Swoon! Go download all of it, I have't heard a thing I don't like yet.
