    152: Very varied!

Interesting... I was expecting to eliminate more of these because of my fondness for hard alternative rock and Christian rock (despite the fact that I'm an atheist). Most people I know don't listen to video game soundtracks and classical music as often as I do, which may be what saved me. I love me some good ol' Gustav Holst. ;)

  • KFLA Update 6/9/09 - Ivoryline, Master, Joey Cape of Lagwagon and more!!!

    Jun 9 2009, 18h44 por TheKnitLA

    Sunday, July 19th
    Ivoryline
    7:00 PM, $10
Born into the burgeoning Texas music scene circa 2005, Ivoryline has carved a path of success with tenacity and musical force of will that has made their journey less a road to perdition and more rock ‘n’ roll Utopia. The storm grew stronger when the boys caught the ear of executives at mini-major Tooth and Nail Records, who had the foresight or the luck to be the company who can say they discovered Ivoryline. Crowds grew from a few dozen to a few hundred and sometimes into the thousands and a legend was born.

    Thursday, July 23rd
Master, Pathology, Dreaming Dead, Horrid, Sacrificial Slaughter
7:00 PM, $12 advance, $15 day of show
Master, led by Paul Speckmann, is one of the pioneering forces in death metal. Hailing from Uherske Hradiste, Moravia, in the Czech Republic, they have recently signed with Pulverised Records and will be unleashing a new Master-Piece shortly. Only a trio, the impact their wall of sound unleashes shows these guys have indeed learned their trade well.

    Thursday, September 17th
Joey Cape (of Lagwagon), Jon Snodgrass (of Drag The River), Chad Rex
7:30 PM, $10 advance, $12 day of show
Known for his work with popular punkers Lag Wagon, Afterburner, Bad Astronaut, and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Joey Cape is releasing his first solo acoustic collection on Suburban Home Records, entitled Bridge. Opening with the song “The Ramones are Dead,” Bridge puts Cape in the company of Against Me’s Tom Gable, Hot Water Music's Chuck Ragan, Avail's Tim Barry, Kevin Seconds of Seven Seconds, and other punk rockers who have chosen to strip away the drum sets and 100-watt half stacks to more clearly present their lyrics and melodies. Is this the new folk scene?

    1. What's your favourite song by 15? (Fall Out Boy
    )
Sugar We're Goin' Down - still a classic, and what got me into them 4 years ago.

    2. How did you get into 20? (Fightstar)
Look, if you want the truth, it was because i was a fan of Busted. And then - interested to see what Charlie Simpson would do next - i began listening to Fightstar.

    3. Who is your favourite member in 1? (You Me At Six)
Boring, going for the lead singer, but definitely Josh. His voice is getting better and better all the time.

    4. What’s your favourite lyric bit by 29? (This Providence)
Can't name a specific lyrics, but the whole of My Beautiful Rescue (Renovated) is amazingly written.

    5. Have you ever seen 22 live? (Madina Lake)
    x2.

    6. What's your favourite album from 10? (We The Kings)
We The Kings! Excited to hear anything from their next/second album though.

    7. Do you own any merchandise from 3? (Kids In Glass Houses)
Yes, a shirt, although it's reasonably old now.

    8. What is a good memory you have of 7? (All Time Low)
Being excited about seeing them at GIAN '08, and wanting literally every band to hurry the hell up, then when they came out they got such a good reception. And when they co-headlined their tour with Cobra Starship, that whole day in Cambridge was brilliant :')))

    9. Is there a member of the same age as you in 2? (The Maine)
    Nope!

    10. When did you first get into 8? (Anberlin)
When i heard TocarGodspeed a couple of years ago.

    11. Who likes 4 along with you? (The Blackout)
Ben does, and i'm getting Emily into them too :d

    12. Which song did you first hear from 16? (Paramore)
Pressure and Emergency in the same week. I think Pressure though.

    13. What song made you fall in love with 5? (Cute Is What We Aim For)

Being From Jersey Means Never Having To Say You're Sorry.

    15. Why do you like 14's songs? (Boys Like Girls)
Because i know literally all the words to every song, and they're a good band for a sing-a-long!

    16. Where did you first hear 6? (Lostprophets)
Saw them in Nottingham about 3 years ago. I don't know if it means live or not ;s i first heard them when i listened to Shinobi vs. Dragon Ninja AAAAGES ago.

    17. How long was 19 a band before you liked them? (Gym Class Heroes)
About a year? Idk, i heard about them a good couple of years before a lot of others did.

Everything We Had, it reminds me of an ex ;$

    19. When did you get into 17? (Metro Station)
ABOUT, START OF 2008. AGES BEFORE THEY BECAME MAINSTREAM SHITE. Still catchy as fuck though.

Same as above, start of '08 when i heard TocarBreakdown.

    21. If 11 had a concert 300 miles away, would you drive there to see them? (The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus)
That's only a 6-hour drive, and The RJA are amazing, so yes :)

    22. How many CDs do you own of 12? (Paramore)
Three! Both of their albums and their first ever EP.

    23. Does 21 have a song that makes you cry? (Farewell)
Definitely not. They're far too poppy and upbeat for that.

    25. Does 23 have a song that makes you smile? (Houston Calls)
TocarBob & Bonnie, because they play it so well live and it brings back good memories of last October!

    TocarI'm Alive.

    Not in the slightest.

    35. Who has the best voice in 46? (The All-American Rejects)
    Tyson Ritter?

    36. Do you think 26 is/are good looking? (Funeral for a Friend)
Nope. Out of all 5 of them, i'd do none, even if i were female.

    37. How many times have you listened to your favourite song by 36? (Enter Shikari)
Well on my lastfm charts, it'd be x27 of TocarWe Can Breathe In Space, They Just Don't Want Us To Escape. But i haven't scrobbled my iPod since i listened to TocarNo Sleep Tonight, TocarWall, and TocarHectic about x28476839.

    38. How many CDs do you own of 30? (VersaEmerge)
Neither of the ones they have out. Cba to order them for no reason, i've downloaded them and tbf they're not good enough to need buying.

    39. Is there a song from 38 that makes you mad? (Search The City)
I love all of them, because honestly, they all sound the same-ish. Then again, that could be a reason to make me mad? Haha.

    41. What does your favourite song from 48 remind you of? (Powerspace)
    Absolutely nothing.

    42. Did you hate 43 at first? (Nickelback)
I can honestly say that the only time i hated Nickelback was when everybody bummed Rockstar. It was played all over mainstream music channels, it was #1 on Kerrang! and Scuzz, and i couldn't stand it. But i love them now that that's over.

    43. Does your best friend also listen to 33? (The Audition)
Well Ben USED to hate them, but since i've been playing him their newest album, and in particular My Temperature Is Rising, they've been growing on him. And Emily loves them yes :d
