  • My Music, Varied?

    Nov 11 2009, 8h59 por aDropofSaliva

Yeah it's one of these things. What else are you suppose to do at 2:30 in the morning.

First, make a list of your top-20 artists overall. Then, for each of these artists, add the 8 most similar artists to your list. Delete any duplicates, count up the number of entries on your list and this will give you some idea of how eclectic your listening habits are. A score of 9 represents an extremely unvaried musical taste while a 160 represents an extremely varied one.

What is your favourite foreign language song?: I have more foreign language songs than I used to, a lot of which are Russian. But probably Jibun kakumei
What's the most embarassing song that you have?: I'm not embarassed about it, but I guess anything by Kylie Minogue.
    Pop or Hip Hop?: Pop

    New Age or Techno?: Techno
    Country or Blues?: Blues
    Folk or Latin?: Latin.
Annoying theme songs or annoying children's songs?: Annoying theme songs.
Macarena or Chicken Dance?: Tie. Macarena is damn fucking catchy but the chicken dance is <3.
YMCA or Cha Cha Slide?: Cha Cha Slide. I'm a total fail at YMCA.
Artist VS. Artist (you HAVE to pick one or you're going to hell)
Going to Hell anyway if there is one at all, so that ultimatum means absolutely nothing to me.
Ashlee or Jessica?: Never listened to either of their stuff.
    Britney or Christina?: Christina.
    Hilary of Lindsay?: Never listened.
    Avril or JoJo?: Avril Lasagna.
    Shakira or JLo?: Shakira

Simple Plan or The All-American Rejects?: All-American Rejects.
Black Eyed Peas or The Click Five?: The Click Five.
No Doubt or Pussycat Dolls?: No Doubt
Blink- 182 or Green Day?: blink-182
New Green Day or Old Green Day?: Old, even though I personally hate both.
    KISS or Beatles?: Beatles.
    Maroon 5 or Yellowcard?: Yellowcard

    Other Stuff
What's your favourite song of all time?: This was already asked.
Artist?: All-time changes for me about every 3-4 months...
    Album?: Dunno.
    Genre?: Metal.
What's your least favourite song of all time?: Too many.
    Artist?: Too many.
    Album?: Dunno.
Genre?: Country and rap/hip-hop (I'm not racist, ignorant fucks. Vocals are a crucial part in music for me, and rappers/hip-hoppers vocals are a total fail to my eardrums.)
Isn't Panic! At the Disco the best band ever?: They aren't the worst.
Ever been to a concert?: Yes, in 9th or 10th grade.
If so, who did you see? If not, who do you want to see?: Within Temptation was the main band, and I was there for the two opening bands; The Dearly Departed (or The Dear and Departed, I'm not sure...) and the other one I forgot the name of, but it was good. There are a lot of bands I'd kill to see, though.
What's the difference between rock and alternative?: What does this have to do with the price of eggs in China?
MTV, VH1, or Fuse, and why?: When I was able to watch all three, I found myself watching Fuse the most, Vh1 second most. Mtv was good for some of the shows (Parental Control always amused me and that Next show was fun sometimes) and the music videos were a little fun to watch. Just because it makes it to Mtv doesn't make it automatic shit =|. ;asdfi
Soundtracks or Mixed Tapes?: Never had a mix tape. D:
Pay 99 cents for a song or download illegally?: Download.
Borrow your friend's CD's, buy it yourself, or download it?: I'd try downloading first. If that fails, I'd borrow if a friend has it. If THAT fails also and the cd is good enough to spend 14 bucks on, I might just buy it (in this case, I'd have the money, somehow). You have no fucking idea how much I hate spending money. I also often regret buying CD A instead of CD B or C afterwards, anyways.
What's wrong with downloading illegally anyways?: I honestly don't know. 'Support the artists' people are fighting a losing war. There will always be people who "steal" music and there will always be RIAA cocksuckers that buy all their music. I know artists don't make much profit off their labels, but they are way better off than I am. I do buy CDs, though. I do like having them in my collection and being able to whip them out for whatever. But honestly, when I'm given the opportunity, I'm waaay more inclined to download an album (actually, I'm fully inclined to download it) than go waste $14 on it and probably not like it that much, and then not even get a third of what I paid for it back (it's staying on my computer, though. If I do get a third of that money back, I still spent $9.50 on it. I'm not letting that go to waste.) There are more serious issues out there, and you guys bitch about this.
Why did you take this survey?: I like surveys. :L And I like stats. :D It's been a long time since I've done an iTunes stats survey. v.v
Do you like me?: I'll have to get to know you better before I can make a judgement call like this... can you meet me at the San Diego Zoo at 2AM this Thursday?
What are you listening to right NOW?: TocarElements
See ya.: See you at the zoo. :D

  • The Lazer Collection: Shoemaker Levy 9 - Pantheon. A jakżeby inaczej - recenzja.

What a fucking waste. No to jak, jedziemy?

Okładka. Okładka. Okładka. Hmm. Przedstawiająca szczyt jednej z wież Petronas Towers w Kuala Lumpur w Malezji. Modernistycznie. I taka jest ta muzyka. Modernistyczna. Wyobraźcie sobie Napalm Death napierdalające 100x szybciej, 100x brutalniej, ale 2x mniej ciężko. Wyobraźcie sobie wstawki z Dysrythmii... ojej nie zacząłem jeszcze części właściwej recenzji. OK - jak słychać Shoemaker Levy 9 - wyjdzie w praniu.

    1. Cerebral Dysfunction (1:42)

    2. Beyond Frontiers Of Asylum (2:47)
Tak brzmią single. Grindowe. Techniczne nakurwianie. Wolniejsze, ale ciężkie toto jak cholera. Łamańce rytmiczne lepsze jak u Dillinger Escape Plan. Weinman mógłby się podszkolić zwłaszcza podczas przejścia z ultraszybkiej partii w wolniejszy prawie Toolowy riff. Naprawdę zapada w pamięć. Taki prosty, a taki skomplikowany.

    3. Deconstructive Process (2:21)
Jazzowa wstawka, siedmiokrotna stopa, połamańce, świdrujące ucho wokaliza, i przełamanie rytmu. Jakieś wstawki elektroniczne i jedziemy dalej. I następuje melodyjny zaśpiew. Cudo sudo barrakudo, może chcesz zjeść kurze udo.

    4. Vestige Of Self Effacement (2:56)
Z czego połowa utworu to klimatyczne odgłosy czegoś bliżej niesprecyzowanego. Wchodzi perkusja. Dzień dobry, mam raka płuc, a oto i on <wrzask>. Koniec.

    5. Compassion (3:54)
Oto rodzimy Heatenic Noiz Architect przyśpieszony około 1000 razy. Cztery minuty konkretnego nie ma zmiłuj. Łamane partie progrockowe w stylu Yes przeplatane konkretnym wpierdolem. I jebut. Lubimy Queens of the Stone Age? Mamy partię QOTSA, na swój sposób przyspieszoną.

    6. Claustophobic Control (3:39)
Rasowy lodołamacz. Karkołomne popisy gitar, basu i elementów ciszy.

    7. Absense (2:12)
I tak sobie płynie ten elektroniczny uciszacz... Zwyczajny słuchacz pomyśli, że to outro. A tu zmyłka.

    8. The Genetic Clock Reign (2:58)

    Plusy:
    Minusy:
    - Trudno dostępna (wytłoczono 5 000 numerowanych egzemplarzy)

    Ocena: 10/10

  • well shit. . . .verdict time. .

    Ago 30 2009, 16h39 por KMFCM

    Cave-In – planets of old
Metalcore bands of the late 90s/early 2000s who are still together/have recently reformed after breaking up several times and kind of changing direction a couple of times, Poison the Well and now Cave-In have shown you the way. . . .START PLAYING FASTER THAN YOU DID IN THE 90S! = PROFIT (though, no, not in THAT sense. . .I mean profit as in your old fans that gave up on you say “well, lookit that, you did something I like without just doing what you did on your first record”). No, Steve doesn’t sound like Jeremy Enigk anymore, but that’s alright. This is a natural progression from Perfect Pitch Black. . . but it’s so far ahead of it it’s unbelievable. For the first time in quite some time Cave-In decide to just rock the fuck out. . . .instead of spacing the fuck out. The wankery is toned down quite a bit, and the heavy is turned up (and I guess that’s gonna be a theme of this set of verdicts, bringing back the heavy). They’ve got their old logo again, but don’t think this is gonna be until your heart stops. . the return. . . it’s still another place completely, but I think you’ll enjoy this place almost as much (ALMOST). First song is a sludgy number similar to one or two songs on Perfect Pitch Black, complete with Caleb getting some screams in (and a feedback solo. . .so there’s a little wank), Second song has that vibe too, but then . . . . FAST SONGS. Fast songs? “the red trail”, fast hardcore song. . .who’s doing the vocals on this? I’t sprobably not Steve, but it’s definitely not Caleb. The last track sounds like something Clouds might do. All in all, best I’ve heard of this band in quite a while.

    8.5/10

Future of the Left – Travels with myself and others
One of my most anticipated albums, that I had no reason to believe was coming out anytime soon (because since they’re not exactly metal, I completely lose track of them unless they just happen to be making a rare trip stateside), the new full length by Future of the Left is here. . .and it fucking kills. Not that much difference here. Still got that sludgy bass tone that can hold it’s own without a guitar there (up until I saw them live, I didn’t realize the songs with keyboard had no guitar. . .the bass is just that sludgy), still got those quirky lyrics you cannot help but sing along with even though you may not be sure what the hell they are about. There’s a little more melody. Falco actually sings a lot more on this record than the other one. Other than that though, the songs are still short and kick ass. “I am civil service”, “lapsed catholics” (WHAT A FUCKING CLOSER DUDE!), “you need satan more than he needs you” and “throwing bricks at trains” will be stuck in your head for years to come and after 12 songs you will be once again left wanting more.

    9/10 this shit bounces

    Jesu – infinity
I never thought I’d see the day. I thought (maybe hoped is a better word, if he was gonna keep going in the shoegaze direction, I was hoping he’d go ahead and make that harsh Slowdive record he's been hinting towards with some of his remixes) he’d do a collabo with Kevin Sheilds first. But it’s here. . . .the heavy is back in Jesu. . . .at least for one song. One very long song. The first minute or so, is like Aphex Twin. . .and then. . .BOOM. . sludgy Jesu guitar. ..where have you been?!?!? This isn’t self titled quality shit mind you, but that can only happen once in a lifetime. This is the closest we’re probably gonna hear for a while (unless homeboy is thinking of doing this kind of shit more often. . . . .please?). The next part, remember the last song on “us and them”? It’s like that. Then, it gets so heavy you think he’s gonna start yelling . . .it doesn’t happen though. . . . no. . . wait a while. . . follow the sludgy jesu guitar on a little trip, the kind of trip you’re not expecting because even on the self titled record he’d just repeat the same riff for the half the song. . .and then. . .Godflesh yelling. . . at a part you do not expect it (it’s a little melodic for him to be yelling during. . . .awesome). . that’s only 16 minutes in kids.
This is an almost 50 minute track.

    Yeah dude

It’s longer than Heartache or Ruined.

After that 16 + point, things get kinda Neurosis. . . which, I also did not expect. Listen to the last couple of releases, you forget they’re supposed to have a real drummer. Once that little Aphex twin intro finishes, it’s real drums all the way.

A lot of you have quit jesu. . . .but, you need to hear this.

    8.5/10 this shit smashes

Burnt by the Sun – Heart of Darkness
The Perfect is the Enemy of the Good, wasn’t that good.
I think BBTS realize this, and that’s why they decided to make a way way better album and THEN break up. This is almost Soundtrack quality shit, no question. I don’t even know what else to tell you. Just grab that shit.

    8.5/10 this shit rocks

    Emmure – Felony
I don’t get to review truly bad shit lately, so I had to go with this. I heard the song “felony” and thought maybe this had a shot at being the guilty pleasure of 2009 (“bars in astoria” just had a good ending). Turns out, they are now the second Victory band to go the nu metal route (the first, of course being, Bury Your Dead. . . .who I haven’t bothered with, hence there being no bad review of them.) You know how I say a band “writes a better slipknot album than slipknot”? Well, this is one of those cases, except there’s no speed. It’s the same breakdown after breakdown after breakdown thing they’ve been doing since they decided to not be the second coming of Eighteen Visions anymore (man, what happened to you guys?). No more low vocals either. In fact, this guy sounds like the guy from Car Bomb now. . . .and I know I’m the only person in the world that actually likes Car Bomb . . . .and he’s singing a lot. . .and it sounds like (who’d have thunk it) Corey Taylor (if Corey Taylor thought he was Chino Moreno). He’s also still overdramatic as hell, which is just funny because I’m pretty sure he’s not singing about anything as personal or whatever as he was on “. . .Gallows”. Can’t decide if they’re a tough guy band or a .. . . . whatever kind of band has a little boy sulking in his room on the cover of their album.
. . . why does Ion Dissonance look up to this band?!?!?!?!. . . .
People, just listen to Plagues. It’s pretty simple, crushing, mosh type of shit that’s better than this in every way. Seriously. Listen to that band instead. I’m gonna give you a link. http://www.myspace.com/weareplagues
    There, go listen to that.
Click on the song “dreams of the morbid”, and hear this kind of shit done CORRECTLY.

    1.5/10 this shit blows

The Psyke Project – Dead Storm
After a record this good, “samara” is officlally obsolete. They might as well start counting “daikini” as their first record. These last couple years, this band have found their stride. It seems like only last year Apnea came out. . .because it came out in the USA last year :) . Now, with US distro in hand, they set out to lay waste to everything they’ve done before. Psyke are now a way downtuned Envy without the abundance of pretty parts. They’ve kept the songs under 10 minutes, increased the heavy and opted to not sing EVER (I liked “not in my time”, but it did seem like a bit of a non-sequitor on that record). The highlight? “forget the forgotten”. This is the type of song you want to see the band live for the sole purpose of singing along with said song. I hope dude is ready to give up the mic. I don’t know if the Psyke ever got pile-ons at shows(maybe in the samara days), but they’re gonna get ‘em now.

    9/10, this shit goes
